I've seen it mentioned in several places on the web that 5 episodes of Double Dare 2000 were shot in high definition.
It was mentioned this had something to do with a Sony promotion. Does anyone know any more of the details of this? Were they shown in HD anywhere? Hi-Def sets weren't very common in 1999-2000.

While not actually broadcast in HD, letterboxed versions of the episodes did occasionally turn up in the regular rotation of GAS earlier in the decade (I think I've got a tape of one of 'em around here somewhere) - at some point they were presumably pulled wholesale from the regular rotation.

I saw at least one of those run not long before the station signed off for good.

Definitely recall these episodes running and not totally getting it, since HD wasn't very common. The grand prize on each of those episodes was an HDTV, though. They aired letter boxed on Nick.

Yes, I've seen the letterboxed SD versions on GaS. I'm just wondering if they were ever actually shown anywhere in HD.
I wonder what the value of an HDTV was in 1999-2000. Did they say?

I believe on one of the installments they cited the value of the TV at $10,000. Quite a haul when you consider the usual value of the prizes at the end of the line.
