Drove by "The Game Show Grill" yesterday in Toledo, OH. Found out it's brand new (http://\"http://www.toledofreepress.com/2008/10/24/restaurant-treats-diners-to-game-show-entertainment/\"). Anybody up for a field trip?

That just *screams* GSC.
Maybe celebrity guest Jamie Farr can drop by....

And the award for least understandable quote goes to:
The video game industry changed dramatically when people began to be able play games at home and on their computers. There’s certain things — it’s like a movie — there are certain films you just have to go to the theater and see it on the big screen, and “Deal or No Deal” is one of those games.
Huh? This reminds me of the topical-comic character played by Fred Armisen on SNL who just swerves from phrase to phrase without ever bothering to link them into a point.

What an exciting idea!
I give it 5 months, max.

I'm baffled. But more because I don't watch to watch DoND on my iPod, much less a big screen.
Did anyone go to their actual site and get a gander at the wacky morning DJ's they've found to be hosts?

Great job guys! That was great! LOL!
I'm going to MI to visit friends and family in Cadillac next year...my wife and I will have to check this place out--looks cool!!
-
Judging strictly by the website, they managed to cram every lame game show-related stereotype into a third-rate hotel bar, and still retained enough room for one of those godawful DoND arcade machines.
"See, if we say 'game show' enough times in the commercial, people will think it's fun. Then it won't matter if the food sucks!" (This is obviously a variant of the Dave & Buster's Theory.)
If nothing else, a visit should be good fodder for comedic skewering...
-
Ahh...The Clarion Inn on Secor (formerly Sheraton)... I used to live around the corner from that place in m collegiate days. And of all the radio talent still working in Toledo that I thought would make good hosts, I guess none of them work for the Evil Clear Channel Empire. (Tis a shame my old station has been swallowed up by them too).
But the way Clear Channel is running RUINING their radio business, these air talents probably make more there in one night there than they do in one week back at the station.

I don't think it will be very good, I heard from a restaurant critic that the sandwiches were awful. The "Todd Newton" (a thick slice of ham covered in cheese) was the worst of the lot. (Even with the complimentary tomato Talk Soup they throw in.)
And don't even get me started on the Plinko-burger served on a Carey-way seed roll (you even have to pay extra for a kosher Wink Martin-dill pickle.)
Although to be fair, the Vanna White-fish on brown rice is said to be exceptional. And the drinks menu is nice, with a Dick Martin-i and the always popular Just Men-t Julep. But whatever you do, stay alway from the dessert list, the only good thing they have is the Jack Rasp-Barrys and cream.

Dollars to donuts, when they say "temporarily closed for renovations", they end up saying "closed forever". I've came across alot of businesses that say "closed for remodeling", only to end up with a "for sale" or "for lease" sign afterwards.

Absolutely...There was a whole chain of "Closed For Remodeling" locations about 20 years ago in T-Town. In fact, the hotel/restaurant's Secor Road neighbors (Showcase Cinemas to the south and Sisters Chicken to the north -- separated by a hotel [Quality Inn] and I-475 accordingly) suffered the same demise about one score ago.

Actually - I was thinking more of the "Bankrupt" or "Wipeout" sound, myself.
It's too bad. I was looking forward to having a Monty Cristo, telling the waitress "That's Too Much!" when she asked if I wanted to look at the dessert trays or going to the Deal or No Deal-themed Fruit Salad bar. I heard that has a nice selection of melons.
