For at least 5 weeks, LMAD tapings will be in L.A. starting in March.
Either they are finally realizing that Vegas is not the right venue, or Mike is tired of flying.

Since this is not glaringly obvious to me, what's the problem with Vegas?
-
Where will they be taping? In the Bob Barker studio's?
-
Just throwing this out there, but the Tropicana is perpetually on the list of hotels set to go out with a blaze of glory like The Landmark, The Dunes, The Aladdin, The Sands, The (New) Frontier, The Stardust, et. al.
Since the Sahara shuttered rooms for the holiday season and Binion's closed on Freemont, the older hotels are hurting more than ever.
-
I was planning a Vegas trip right around March, but depending on my tax return, would have to wait until the summer. This was definitely on the list, and I gotta admit I'm a bit bummed by the idea.
Oh well, I can still reenact The Hangover!

Here's a note from On-Camera Audiences on LMAD tapings...
http://www.ocatv.com/shows/show/269 (http://\"http://www.ocatv.com/shows/show/269\")
Final Vegas taping is 1/31.
To me, it sounds as if CBS is determining whether it would be easier (and more cost-efficent) to tape LMAD in Los Angeles.
As for the Tropicana Las Vegas, the hotel still has plenty of issues to deal with (including a lawsuit with the new owners of Tropicana Entertainment -- independent of Trop LV -- over the rights to the Trop name), and it may not have the money and negotiating power to demand anything from CBS at this point.

Taping the show in Vegas doesn't add one iota of intrigue, or fun, or anything for me. You'd never know they tape in Vegas except for the intro and the fact that it gets mentioned once or twice during the show.
I'm sure that better, bigger studio space is more readily and cheaply available in LA. Perhaps an advantage in taping at Vegas is the crowd of folks willing to see a free show?
-
I got a comment on my site saying the Tropicana is being renovated so they had to move for a bit during its closing.

(and to a lesser degree NY) has an endless supply of folks willing to stand in line for hours on end to clap on cue inside air-conditioned TV studios. "LMAD" will be fine. :)

He said they were willing to be in the audience. He didn't they were willing to do it for free.

This, could also make any potential "Drew and Wayne Switch Places For The Day" April Fool's Day joke much easier to do.

Or give them the opportunity to upgrade the facilities at the Trop to HD before LMAD returns.

Wouldn't that just involve hiring an HD truck?
It wouldn't surprise me if they do out-and-out move to LA.
-
Is all of TV City now HD-compatible? I'm pretty sure all the content coming out of there is in HD, but they might use a truck for non-CBS projects.

Let's Make a Deal will not be taping at CBS.
It's Bronson Studios on Sunset beginning March 18th. I've heard there are 40 shows (20 tape dates) left this Season. No decision on renewal.

Yep, the old KTLA and Tribune studios. How do you know so much, John? ;-)

How has the show been doing in the ratings? I'm guessing it at least pulls what Guiding Light pulled in its later years, if not better?

Doing a Google search, it seems that the last we heard about LMAD ratings were back in October, where CBS reported a slight increase from GL and a one-year high for TPiR, suggesting that LMAD was a stronger lead-in than GL.
For the most part, daytime ratings seem to focus exclusively on soaps and the morning "news" shows, as well as syndicated fare. You hear very little about the ratings of other shows (LMAD, TPiR, The View) unless the network promotes it in a press release.
How has the show been doing in the ratings?
Funny you should ask. CBS put out a press release (http://\"http://www.cbspressexpress.com/div.php/cbs_entertainment/release?id=24306\") hours after your post.
The Price is Right is up season-to-date +12% in viewers (5.03m from. 4.51m), +15% in women 25-54 (1.5/9 from 1.3/8) and +18% in adults 25-54 (1.3/9 from 1.1/8). Let's Make a Deal is up +12% in viewers (2.42m from 2.16m) and +20% in women 18-34 (0.6/7 from 0.5/7) this season compared to comparable weeks last year (Guiding Light).

Plus the show is a whole lot cheaper than GL was, so I think CBS has to be pleased with it...

Thanks, Chad!
That's pretty awesome...according to the ratings from late-January, (http://\"http://tvbythenumbers.com/2010/02/05/soap-opera-ratings-all-my-children-only-show-up-vs-last-week-year-in-viewers/41206\") it's still behind the other soaps, but like the release mentioned, it's improved upon GL's numbers, so CBS has to be happy.
Otherwise, they wouldn't have you know...sent a press release. ;-)

I figure no news is good news, and good news is great news. The lack of renewal is a bit of a concern (I wouldn't mind another season), but there are probably more than just ratings to worry about at this point.
I'd be interested to see how LMAD compares in terms of dollars and cents.

I think the fact that it is doing so well is one of the factors that it is/has moving/moved to L.A.
Probably to give it a more permanent studio.

Uhh no, firstly they haven't moved yet.
Secondly, this is only going on because the Tropicana is going through renovations.

The show ceased production in Las Vegas in January.

Just a bump - according to the schedule on CBS.com, the first LA episode will air tomorrow, April 7th.
-
On the changes in L.A., there wern't "that" many differences. The only major differences with the set I noticed were just slightly different placements and stuff, there's a stair with the show's logo on it now, and the intro doesn't mention it's in Las Vegas, and the shot of the outside of the hotel has been replaced by more crowd pans.
