Title: ABC's first weekday daytime schedule (1958)
Post by: Tim L on March 08, 2010, 07:18:32 PM
Here, on my Blog's Facebook page, is a full page Cleveland TV Guide Ad from October 12, 1958 about ABC's first complete weekday daytime schedule, featuring such shows as Mother's Day with Dick Van Dyke, Liberace, Beat The Clock, Chance For Romance (John Cameron Swayze) and Who Do You Trust..

While WEWS carried part of this schedule, 45 and 49 carried the full schedule..Channel 45 was WKST Youngstown and WAKR-TV 49 Akron..Both 45 and 49 are now simulcast PBS channels..

Liberace (1:00) and Chance For Romance (2:00) were both half hour shows, so 1:30 and 2:30 were turned back to ABC affiliates..

If he had been host, the show could have been called "Chance for Romance with Liberace".

Good night everyone.

That is an excellent site you have, by the way.
Your knowledge and respect of Cleveland broadcasting and its history is outstanding.
I would love to thumb through that treasure chest of a scrapbook you have sometime.
Cheers to you.
