Title: GS sightings?
Post by: Jay Temple on June 30, 2010, 02:18:31 PM
The Arizona Diamondbacks are sending up a pitcher for his major-league debut. His name? Barry Enright.

On July 18 and 19, Fox Movie Channel will air A Man Called Peter, a biography of Peter Marshall. The Congressional chaplain, that is.

Barry actually starts today against the St. Louis Cardinals -- why do I have a feeling he'll get checked every third pitch for emery boards, Vaseline and the like? :)

Starting on the mound tonight for your Arizona Diamondbacks...

Barry Enright!

"This D-backs' 4-2 win is a Barry Enright production."

Any chance his middle name is Dan?
Does he tell certain opposing batters or teams to purposely take a dive if the crowds start getting tired of them?
Does he try to get the games to end in ties after the 9th inning just so he can have long, drawn out tie-breakers?
If he earns a loss in a game, does a portion of his salary go to the winning pitcher for the other team?
Do they turn off the A/C at Chase Field whenever he is pitching a game?
And what about Naomi???

//Need to start selling baseball caps in Phoenix with the B&E Logo on them.

I actually checked that before I posted!

Cardinal LF Matt Holliday did hit a "natural" triple off him but didn't win anything special for it. Also, the way Enright pitched, the game was anything but Fast Forward.

Does he have a performance bonus in his contract for five wins in a row?

While Andrew's post above gives the correct score, some of us (myself included) might not have realized it as such.  Young Mr. Enright did indeed win his major league debut, throwing five innings and giving up one run on four hits.

While we're on this theme, I was amused to find out that our local pharmacist is named Johnny Gilbert.

Here are my Top 5 Ways to promote Barry Enright:

1)  Play the Tic Tac Dough theme when he is warming up.
2)  Get Chris Berman to give him one of these nicknames:  Tic-Tac, The Joker, or The Dragon.
3)  Get all the surviving Barrys and Enrights (of the game show company) to attend one of his games, and Barry hands each one an autographed baseball souvenir.
4)  Get Hal Hidey out of retirement and hire him as the baseball organist.
5)  Give away a new car to one lucky fan whenever Barry Enright pitches five winning games in a row.

Last year I worked at a trade show for people who run haunted houses. One of the exhibitors was named Mark Goodson. (No relation, I asked.)

I read about it earlier.  First thought I had was that the Cards were Facing the Devil at bat.

The movie is based on the book by his widow, Catherine Marshall. Also based on the book by Catherine Marshall: "Christy," the series starring Kellie Martin, and its numerous spin-offs.

I recommend any of her books without hesitation.

I go to church with a Mark Goodson.  Never said anything to him about it, but it always enters my mind.

Barry Enright's stats. (http://\"http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/e/enrigba01.shtml\")

Had a good outing yesterday. Picked up his first ever major league base hit and RBI en route to his 2nd win.

Three more and he wins a 1982 Chevrolet Chevette!

/If only there was an MLB team called the "Dragons"
//Or if Tampa hadn't dropped "Devil" from their name

Well, the Pirates have been the butt of the NL for so long they might as well be called the "Jokers"...

Nah--reserve that for the Cubs.  102 years. . .and counting.

/And Enright lost to the Cubs.  Doesn't say much.
