A familiar show (http://\"http://www.tvbarn.com/ticker/archives/016844.html#016844\") will be profiled.
That's 7 p.m. Eastern, 6 p.m. Central, football coverage notwithstanding.

For those on the West Coast, 60 Minutes can be seen at it's regular time.

The last time 60 Minutes profiled game shows was back in 1975.
They showed the Treasure Hunt incident when Mrs. Ivy Floatsm thought she was klunked, but ended up with a 1960 Rolls Royce! That caused her to faint on the floor! Then she had to sell the car to pay her taxes. I read about that in a Chuck Barris book.

60 Minutes profiled WOF in Fall 1986, as did CBS Sunday Morning around the same time. Can't recall a game show based story on 60 Minutes since then.

Did something interesting happen on WoF at the time, or was it just done "for the sake of it"?

Fall '86 would've been right after Wheel steamrollered Feud (a bit earlier), TJW, and TTD out of existence, yes?

Or it was part of a Mike Wallace investigation into the use of child labor in the ceramic dalmatian factories of Indonesia. Now you see why they (eventually) stopped the shopping!

If you remember the 1984 60 Minutes piece on the NATPE covention, you'll recall Morley Safer telling Michael King that he had never heard of "Jeopardy!" Michael then had to tell him of the show's NBC track record.

The segment showed a clip from the Fleming J!, not in the best quality; the clue shown was: The only state whose name ends in G(Wyoming). I'm not sure what year that would be from, or where it would come from. Clips from among the 20 seasons of J! were shown. Frank Spangenberg was interviewed in depth, and clips from his first five appearances from 1990 were shown. They went behind the scenes of the Yale college championship, telling us about how they took a 30 minute break to determine whether a response given was acceptable. Alex Trebek and producer Gary Johnson(seen as "The Judge" on the Challengers back in the day) were interviewed in depth. They showed the room where the writers discuss their clues and compile games. Merv was seen in a snippet, I think the same one seen on J!'s 4000th show last year, discussing how his wife at the time had the original idea for the show.

Zach, I don't think a segment from a TV newsmagazine requires spoiler space...unless there was some kind of shocking revelation or something...which there wasn't.
