Title: Possibly The Worst Idea For A Television Show Ever
Post by: DoItRockapella on May 02, 2012, 09:24:29 PM
This isn't really a game show, but it's so sad I just had to bring it up here. During American Idol tonight, Fox showed a trailer for what a Google News search reveals is a DATING SHOW. (http://"http://insidetv.ew.com/2012/05/02/fox-the-choice/")

Why is the first word that pops into my head "mockbuster"?

Unintentionally accurate quote: “I think there’s a big hole in the dating show world"

We've gotten to the point of where we not only rip off other concepts, but now we rhyme the titles? Sheesh.

Well, that's one way to describe the producer.

Sorry about the double post and everything. The Forum keeps freezing on me - anybody else have this problem?

I was going to include the trailer for The Choice, but I can't get the YouTube embed to work right either.

The only difference between this and The Dating Game would appear to be that the bachelors behind the partition pledge their fealty to the comely bachelorette, as opposed to the other way 'round.

And more ad-time and stretching.

"Win a Date with a Celebrity" does strike me as new, but aside from the fact it's total garbage, there are two big flaws.

It seems the whole conceit is the celebrity going out with whomever they picked unseen. It turns out they each get three picks of the unseen women, then choose after all the reveals. Way to kill the big moment.

And it doesn't appear there's any Love Connection-style catch up after the date. Why Fox would blow that opportunity is beyond me.

And more ad-time and stretching.

Not nearly as much stretching as the Bachelor and Bachelorette, though.
