Title: Fox green-lights "Beat Shazam" music game show
Post by: colonial on August 08, 2016, 03:37:02 PM: Based on the popular Shazam app, contestants identify songs in what's essentially a 21st century take on "Name That Tune" courtesy of Mark Burnett and "Don't Forget the Lyrics" creator Jeff Apploff.

-Identify 10 songs, with each answer being worth an increasing amount of money.
-If you get stuck you can get one of a few hints.
-There will be a pregnant pause between the answer and reveal.

Post by: SamJ93 on August 08, 2016, 05:30:44 PM: The title implies that there will at least be a timer in play (i.e. taking less time than Shazam does to name that tune), so maybe it won't be quite as tedious as its pedigree implies. Still, I'd rather see a straight-up NTT revival with Paul Shaffer hosting.

By which you mean it'll feel like it lasts for nine months.

Then you must think this is going to be horrible, because Paul Shaffer hosting a game show would be an absolute train wreck.

Well, he did host the sort-of game show "Cover Wars" back in 2001, was I thought wasn't bad...although re-watching the clips on YouTube now, I do realize he'd be lost without cue cards.
