This "classic American game show" requires valid passports because it's going to be recorded in... the UK!

i wonder if they're paying for all or part of the airfare and/or hotel room.

Actually going to the site and reading the eligibility requirements returns the answer:
(All travel related expenses to the UK, such as flight and hotel will be covered by the production company (in accordance with customary policies and budgetary parameters).

Okay yeah. I didn't read that part. Since I don't have a passport I had no intention of doing this, so I didn't read that far.

"Yeah, Wordle, it's the same green and yellow squares you use to indicate letter placement. What're you gonna do, complain that we ripped you off?"

The eligibilty requirements suggest they'll be taping between August 12-22. Regarding passports, you'll need one that's good through the end of 2022 and as of early August would be more than six months away from expiring.

New York Times: "We might."

I hate to nick pick, but I'm sure they mean "taping" instead of "filming." I was in the TV business for a long time as a writer/editor and cannot understand others in the same business who don't know the difference, or would rather be inaccurate than accurate.

No tape or film is involved. Maybe they should say "recording"?

That's certainly acceptable.
