Title: Emmy Magazine
Post by: alfonzos on March 02, 2004, 06:33:48 PM
Emmy Magzine is the offical magazine of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. The issue I happened to purchase is dated Issue 1, 2004.

It contained two articles about "The Price is Right."

The first article concerned the live show at Harrah's Reno. The show stars Jeff Trachta (actor, "The Bold and the Beautiful") and Todd Newton alternating as hosts. The show differs from the series because in Contestants' Row, the players bid secretly then reveal them in turn.

The second article is a reprint of an interview with Barker by Fred Wostbrock. There is no new information, of course but there are nice pictures: Barker at home posing with eleven Emmys, a 1972 shot with a contestant and Janice playing Grocery Game, a 1978 shot with contestants, Janice and Dian during closing credits, a 1983 shot with a boat in the background and a recent posed shot at a Million Dollar Spectacular.

The magazine is a worthy addition to the TPIR fan's collection.

Here's the Barker interview (http://\"http://www.emmys.org/emmymag/february04/foundationarchive.php\")--and the "TPIR Live!" article (http://\"http://www.emmys.org/emmymag/february04/priceisright.php\").

In addition, Mediaweek's Marc Berman has an article on King World--however, only the beginning of the article is online (http://\"http://www.emmys.org/emmymag/february04/king.php\")--you have to buy the mag to get the whole thing.

The issue has a daytime television theme and would be well worth picking up for daytime fans.  Barnes & Noble and Borders often have it in stock, along with your favorite indie newsstand, and there's also subscription info on the web site.  Look for Ellen DeGeneres on the cover.
