Although many of us associate the quote with Chuck Woolery, I recently heard a couple of similar quotes on a couple of TTTT episodes from around 1973-1974.
Bill Cullen was guest hosting, and said: "we'll meet our motorcyclist in about two minutes and a couple of seconds."
Then, a different episode with Garry Moore, had him saying: "we'll meet this fortune teller, in 122 seconds!"
I'm sure there is a bit of extra time that actually leads to the "two and two."

I've heard it explained that it's one second out, two minutes of commercials, one second back in.

Allen Funt said a similar line on the '70s Candid Camera at least once as well.

a true "two and two" is all about that hand motion. how many other hosts have a trademark physical action? maybe Howie Mandel, with that S-wave he'd do at the end of Deal -- or Allen Ludden, with his Password hand gesture

The Dick Clark salute comes right to mind, along with Regis pointing at the camera.

Didn't Barker, at least some of the time, salute with his "good-bye everybody?"
Bud Collyer liked to salute, and he had his sanctimonious finger wagging at the end of TTTT.
Trebek did his palm-up hello to camera when entering.
