Title: Stan Worth on "Name That Tune"
Post by: thomas_meighan on January 18, 2025, 11:14:02 AM
Looking up some background on Stan Worth, the orchestra director in the later seasons of the 70s run of "Name That Tune," I found that he died on August 31, 1980 in the crash of a private plane that he owned. Would production on that year's NTT episodes have already wrapped by that point, or did they need to find a new conductor?

FWIW: Born March 29, 1932 in Norfolk, Virginia as Stanwurt Valentine Schilling.

For some reason, I wanna say they shot the entire season over the summer. I found a few episodes from that final season where he's the director and I'm guessing they were still bicycling.

Didn't know Stan was born in my hometown.

Side note: Sister Jean was one of the earliest contestants on the syndicated weekly version, back when they were still playing Cassette Roulette.
