Were the power surge squares placed at random or did the producers place them where needed if they wanted at least 1 mini game played per show?

 They almost always placed one in one of the center squares, usually 6 or 7, with the other placed in the top or bottom middle squares. That leads me to think they placed them there themselves so at least one "Power Surge" could be hit per picture.

There are at lest 4 possible Power Surge combos that I know of.  6/10, 6/11, 7/10 & 7/11.  Those are the most common placements.  If anyone knows about other placements for Power Surges, post away.

 More often than not, Power Surges are placed in the center squares, but I have seen them in outside squares on occasion.  In general, they're placed where the most detail in the picture is, IMO.
