Title: Dealers Choice Bonus Dice
Post by: dmota104 on April 11, 2004, 08:27:37 AM
I've never seen DC.  But I've read many online accounts of how the game was played.

Question about the bonus dice: What amount was on each side of each die?  From seeing images on Matt's home game site and BoardGameGeek.com, I know there's at least a "$50" and "$100" on each side -- plus the dreaded spade.

I'm pretty sure I saw a publicity photo in an old game show magazine that had a $200 side displayed on one die. One of the lucky folks with a board game version might be able to add more info?

IIRC - and I admit I was probably too busy looking at Jane Nelson to notice the dice - the dollar values on the dice went from $50 to $200 with a spade on one die.

Jane Nelson had two sides, front and back.

You recall correctly; the 50, 100, and 200 values on one die were on "adjacent" sides (so Jane could flip the die around to show the three values to the camera).

I'm not 100% sure about this, but I think in the first episode, both dice had a spade (but if that's true, somebody obviously figured out how hard it would be to win).

In the box game, one die has four $50 sides and two $100 sides.  (The two $100 sides are opposite each other.)  The other die has three $50s, a $100 a $200 and a spade.  (Two of the $50s are on opposite sides, the spade is opposite the other $50, and the $100 and $200 are opposite each other.)

I cannot guarantee that this is the way the dice were designed for the TV program.  There are quite a few minor differences between the box game and the show.

..and I admire the restraint everyone has shown by refusing to ask which of them was the $200 side....
