Title: B/W Overnight
Post by: GSFan on July 05, 2004, 01:33:48 PM
I need to start taping WML since I am not waking up at four AM to watch it and Password.  Have I missed Dorothy Kilgallen's final appearance and/or the episode in which John Daly mentions her passing?   If anyone is following the series, please let me know.  Thanks.

Actually, you're just in time.  Dorothy's final episode will air in the early morning hours this Wednesday (late Tuesday night, if that helps you think about it easier).  The tribute episode will be the next night.

No, you haven't missed Dorothy's final appearance and
the show after in which John Daly and panel give Dorothy
a "final good-bye."

If the shows run in order and nothing "unexpected" occurs,
(sadly) tomorrow night - Tues night/early Weds am - will be
Dorothy's LAST show  :-(

It's my understanding, however, that Dorothy's LAST show
*may not* air, and, they will skip one week continuing on with the
show which aired the *following* week where the panelists say
their good-byes to Dorothy.

Either way, it's all very sad, and I can already feel how "different"
the show will be without her. She was an amazing panelist!

Dorothy's final episode has been shown before so it should air, last time however Game Show Network had a oversized icon  in corner promoting WHAMMY! in addition to their own logo it was a tacky move IMHO,considering how long it takes to go through the epsodes,GSN would have more than a few irate viewers if they decided to skip the episode, which I can't find a resaon why they would !?

Quoting from google:

Dorothy's last ep was the 11/7/65 ep (Joey Heatherton as MG).

GSN has **not** aired this episode previously, but has re-aired the next
week's epsiode with short "tributes" by the panel & John Daly a couple
of times.

I would expect they'll follow that protocol again with this run,
presumably out of respect to her family. <<<<<<

That's correct... the last time through the cycle, GSN did indeed air both Dorothy's final episode, and the following week's tribute.

GSN did indeed air the final Dorothy Kilgallen episode last night (I saw the final segment with the football writer) and will air the first episode without Dorothy (and temporary replacement Kitty Carlisle) Wednesday night/Thursday morning at 4:30 a.m. Eastern/1:30 a.m. Pacific.

Thanks for your responses.  I got to tape both episodes over the last two nights.  The tribute episode was particularly classy; no surprise for WML.  What a great show it was.
