...that they are no longer using the "48-day champion" graphic to let viewers know how many days a champion has won?
Does this signify something? This past year, they used the number of days won to determine which players would enter the tournament of champions...are they now using the total dollar amount won?
Does anybody know whey they instituted this subtle change?

Yesterday was the first day they didn't say how many games the champion has won(though Alex mentioned both today and yesterday that Ken has had roughly 100 opponents). No word on if the criteria for choosing next year's TofC players will change from number of appearances or monies won.
-
I'm guessing they're tired of doing that with Ken.
-
I'm sure they'll start displaying the number of days a person has been champion again once Ken is defeated.

'Cuz it keeps Ken from having to do that pseudo-embarrassed shake of the head as Johnny announces him as the 47-kajillion day champion?
-
Having attended more recent tapings, I know for certain that the number of wins does come back. Is this before or after Ken loses?
...
...
Yes. :-Þ

This makes perfect sense, and you're probably right.
-
Still...it would be nice if they'd at least mention it at the end. Some semi-regular viewers who aren't as into this as we are might be wondering "...just how many games has he won, anyway?"
-
Having now seen Monday's episode on the west coast's one-day delay...
My theory: We all know that there have been rumors about Ken doing something once he reaches a certain number of wins. How do you keep viewers from waiting until Ken reaches that number before they start tuning in again? Re-dub the openings so that there's no mention of how many victories Ken has had. It shouldn't be too hard to get Johnny to re-record the introductions for the episodes, omitting the line mentioning the number of wins, and create a new graphic that doesn't display that information. Voila, now only the truly obsessive will have any clue how many wins Ken has had and will have to watch the show regularly if they want to see if any rumors are true.
I noticed that in Monday's episode, they seemed to hold on the shot of Ken a bit longer than they should have. Pretty much the length of time it takes to say "xx-day." Ken's standard reaction to hearing his total may now be out of sync, too, I'm not sure.

I emailed Ken about this, and the response I got was, that they simply lost count. So there goes any theories you guys might have had.

And thanks to the magic of videotape (or whatever digital thing Sony uses for their archives) going back through the shows would make it all too easy to get back on track.

They lost count!!!!!! Of course! That MUST be it. On his last win, he copped his 48th win. But it's been a whole two weeks since that was shown--so what was that total again?
Adam, just like at the bowling alley and other places, you've been duped. I think Ken was pulling your leg.

Don't forget though, that there was a long time in reality between Ken's last episode before the TOC, and the first episode after the TOC.
And thanks to the magic of videotape (or whatever digital thing Sony uses for their archives) going back through the shows would make it all too easy to get back on track.
But you must remember, these shows are taped months in advance.

Adam, do you honestly believe that the Jeopardy! staff is SO incompetent that they can't keep track of what happened on their own show just a few months before?
How many times do you need to be told "don't believe everything you see and hear" before it sinks in?
-
It has sunk in, but this has to be true, after all Ken Jennings himself told me. He better then anyone here would know.

Dude. You got scammed. Again. For ONCE in your EVER-LOVING life, you would look like a whole lot less of an utter dumbass if you would just ADMIT IT instead of making up asinine justifications.
But then, it can't be your fault, because Ken told it to you. Because NOTHING is EVER your fault. Someone else is always responsible for what the world does to Adam Kleist.

So far, Ken has won 34 games and R1,457,859

Yeah, I'm sure it's been noticable since then too but I did not pay attention.
On today's, it's clear that the graphics were changed for this and that Johnny's audio is being spliced. Granted, Ken would not shake his head a full second after the total has been said in completion.
But then again, I'm not him.

I think it's partly that people are getting tired of Ken. (And probably that the money is the bigger issue here...)
