Here's an article from the UK's Evening Standard (http://\"http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/news/articles/14578003?source=Evening%20Standard\") about an upcoming BBC competition series that no one's tut-tutting about.

However, an explanation from our British posters would be appreciated about the significance of the "Swot Idol" title that's been jokingly given to "Hard Spell."

Hmm. Well a "swot" is a coloquialism for someone who is academically gifted and seems to throw all their effort into schoolwork.
