In an earlier post, I'd mentioned that some sources said that among the new releases from Endless Games this year will be a TPIR DVD game, and possibly (as somewhat magically seen illustrated at EGs site) a Password DVD game.
Well, TPIR DVD IS apparently going to happen, because I saw a post from "Uncleplinko," himself, the creator of the box game, saying that there is going to be "25 to 30 games from the home game version," on the DVD game.
No word on any tentative release date, nor selling price.

Did somebody say "2nd Edition remake"?

This site lists the game's price at $26.59, so that could give you a rough idea.
-
But it says that the "normal" price is $34.99. I'd get it in a heartbeat, since it's a better investment than that Feud DVD game.

Because the Feud DVD game is total crap.

One look at the current crap -- er, crop of reality shows should be sufficient proof that "it can't get worse than this" is a dangerous assumption to make. :-)

So you're making the automatic assumption that the Price game is good? Hey; it's your $35.00....

While I'm not in favor of buying a game just because an earlier game sucks, I'm amazed that someone who would gladly give up $1000 for a jumbo check from TPIR is worried about $35 for a TPIR DVD.

Sorry for dragging this thread back, but according to an e-mail from Endless Games, it is not going to be shipped to stores until July 1st, with an on-shelf arrival around mid-July.
-
There is some new information, as well as at least a "prototype," box art illustration at the following link:

I wonder if they err'd in mentioning voice-overs by Rod Roddey, both in the spelling as well as the mention of the late announcer.

Something tells me that somewhere in the south of France, Chuck Barris is reading about them and kicking himself for getting out of the buisness when he did. But enough derailment...
How would a TPiR DVD work, anyway? Wouldn't TPiR require a little more input than the Feud DVD?

It's quite possible he did some voiceovers some time ago. I'm sure they can pull sound bites from 18 years worth of work if necessary.
I noticed they didn't mention Barker at all.
Reminds me of what Tommy Tallarico said regarding the PS2 Wheel of Fortune game: "If you can't get Pat Sajak to do a Wheel of Fortune Game, you don't do a Wheel of Fortune game"

Barris is now living in New York permanently and has said that he would never in his most demented moments do what some reality shows do today. He also has said that he has absolutely no interest in coming back to television and that he is enjoying his retirement.

BTW, I noticed on Wednesday, before leaving for work, that he was apparently linked to a story on Celebrity Justice. Did anyone see what it was all about?

Supposedly, the game is a DVD Board Game, not unlike "Scene It" which integrates the use of a DVD and a board game element as well. How cheap-skate Endless Games is going to pony up the cash to create such an involved game is beyond me...We'll have to see the final product before we judge though...

I thought this was a no brainer.
For cliffhangers, get a static shot of the game. Use the remote for the prices. Watch
For Plinko, again a static shot, have someone drop the pegs while filming, remove them in final product and for the home player place the chip where they would like.
They could do a lot better than just integrating a board game, but again, we'll see.
