American Bandstand graduated from local show on WFIL in Philadelphia, to the ABC network on August 5, 1957; making a star of its then-26-year-old host, Dick Clark. And of course, we know where Dick went from there!

It wasn't even shown in my area, New Orleans, until the very end of the run. Bummersville!
