It is the middle of July. Tapings of all the syndicated shows I presume will be getting underway soon for September.
Somthing to look forward too.

At this point I would like to remind anyone considering answering this question that our rule against in-studio spoilers (http://\"http://gameshow.ipbhost.com/index.php?act=boardrules\") is still in effect. Anyone who wants to know whether or not a particular bit of information is allowed is free to ask me, Matt or Chris.

My mistake. Ignore my original post. I modified it in any event.

To move this thread in a relevant direction (beyond Mr. Zinkin's important words of caution), I've heard conflicting dates for the final episode of the 21st season of the current incarnation of Jeopardy! Will that program roll on July 22 or July 29?

The 22nd.

"WWTBAM" goes back into production Aug. 29, meaning that with a Sept. 12 premiere date, those first few shows will have a very short time frame between taping and air date.
And all four syndie shows start their season on Sept. 12 this year. No Labor Day for "J!" and "Wheel" for the first time in eons.

Another event that no longer takes place during the Labor Day Weekend......For a number of years, the NFL started their season over Labor Day Weekend - this has not happened for a variety of years..
ObGameShow: NFL player Lynn Swann hosted TTTT for a while.

The NFL has tried to avoid starting on Labor Day Weekend for quite a few years (even at the risk of having the Super Bowl end up being played in February)--the ratings for the Monday night game that weekend were usually pretty bad (of course, how great will Monday night ratings be in 2006 when ESPN takes over?).

Season 20 of J!/season 21 of WOF began on September 8th, the Monday after Labor Day, as well. TPIR's new season bows September 19th. New Lingo shows bow on GSN on August 1st.
Anyone know what will be shown as J!'s seven weeks of Summer reruns this summer?

If I were the producers, I'd rerun the last seven weeks of the Ultimate Tournament of Champions. I'm sure they're are many viewers that missed key games and would welcome the chance to see "Jeopardy's" biggest tournament again.

We're going to get at least part of it. I'm guessing that the summer schedule will be the TOC, the College or Teen Tournament and the last 15 days of the UTOC.

The producers decided to kick off the seven week rerun season with the 10/18/04-10/22/04 Kids' week(held off from Labor Day week 2004 due to a contestant with a 38 game winning streak they wanted to kick off the season with).
-
My thoughts:
*I'm very thankful that King World decided to push back the schedule a bit; it will cut down on the viewers calling that the Jerry Lewis MDA telethon cut into their J! schedule.
*I'll have to look, but IIRC you're going to see the UTOC re-run in any market that has "Daytime" Jeopardy next season, so I don't know if the last weeks of the tourney will show up.

In 2003, season 20 started the Monday after Labor Day. The MDM tournament was rerun the two weeks before season 20's premiere.

In the last show of the season, I thought I heard Alex say that it was a six-week break. But if the week of Aug. 1 is the third week of the break, you need an EIGHT-week break to get to Sept. 12.
So let's say it's eight. We already have 1 Kids and 2 Teen weeks. Add 2 College weeks and then 3 UToC and you're there. For the UT, there are 6 quarterfinal shows, 4 semis and 3 in the final. That's 13. The first two could be a "Best of" type thing ... games that were particularly close or one with an extra-high score.

I think you're misreading that, Steve...Zach was referencing the 18th through 22nd of October, not July.

That's not what I was referencing. I was talking about the length of the "offseason" between the last episode of Season 21 (July 22) and the first of Season 22 (Sept. 12).
I heard Alex say they were headed for a six-week break, and some here have posted that it's seven. But the gap between the two dates above is eight weeks.

FWIW, they had no clue what they'd be showing over the summer at the last regular-season taping of season 21, so Alex words there can be taken with a grain of the seasoning of your choice.

...no. It's not. It's seven.
And this week isn't the third week of reruns, either. It's the second.
-
D'OH! I was thinking three since it's clear we're getting both weeks of the Teen tournament.
I'd like to retract the entirety of my participation in this thread. It's just so bad!
But now that I'm thinking straight, I think I'd rather see all four of the remaining weeks after the Teens be from the UToC. You can have seven "Best of" episodes from the first two rounds and then the complete quarters, semis and final.
If you run the 2-week College tournament, you can't show all six UT quarterfinal matches.

Thanks for reminding me about this. My apologies for saying what I said about 2002. (On Labor Day '02, in fact, I saw part of the J! season premiere at the bar of a Mexican restaurant outside Dayton, OH on my way to Indianapolis for the World Championship of Basketball.)
