Title: Hollywood Squares question
Post by: bulldog_06 on November 11, 2005, 04:30:23 AM
Check the website, and take a look at the bottom:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peter_Marshal...me_show_host%29 (http://\"http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peter_Marshall_%28game_show_host%29\")

A movie about Squares and a new revival of Squares, that would be very nice. The original master back in action!

A movie doesn't make him an "active game show host".

This doesn't seem plausable...I'm sure someone here would have heard about it.  Keep in mind I could type in an entry about myself on Wikipedia, and say I have a 15-inch schlong.

Pay more attention.  The listing said there was talk of a movie AND a new series.

I use Wikipedia a lot, and given its open nature, I'm surprised there aren't more...uh..."15-inch-schlong" listings.  Still, this thing about Marshall doesn't make a lot of sense.  What's likely is that Marshall himself has said he'd like to do a new version and no one's taken it seriously except the author of the Wiki article (who's clearly a fan, if not an insider).  Marshall once announced on his website that he'd be doing a stage version of the show with some of his old regulars, and that appears not to have gone anywhere either.

If something sounds too good to be true...you know the rest.

I would like to see those 'In Living Color' sketches though.

In my other life, I use Wikipedia frequently and have noticed that, depending on the topic, errors or bull do seem to get noticed and taken off.  A game show host may be another story.

I've also noted that the Wikipedia people tend to swarm on vanity entries quite quickly and get them off, so Mark's 15-inch schlong may not, excuse the expression, stay up that long.

So....how is the "Quizbusters" entry still up there? :D

Please...don't ban me.

Please...don't share any more about your schlong.

Meanwhile, I was highly amused to see the QuizBusters entry, but I'm not the responsible party.  I touched up the Bill Cullen bio that was already there, and I added a couple of small listings for his shows, but that's been about my only contribution to WikiWorld.  Our producer didn't even know what Wikipedia is, and I doubt anybody else at the station would care about us and not the public affairs series that doesn't have its own page.

So I'm baffled.  Baffle, by  the way, doesn't have its own page either.

There's always Bo Bielefeldt.

Oh, wait, the information in that article was accurate.

Obviously not. I had to go in and make a fix: in the Pop Quiz, the contestants are given two, three, or four letters. ;)

I think this is the Peter Marshall biopic (http://\"http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0048337/\").

Wrong Peter Marshall--but along with that other Bill Cullen, guaranteed to cause confusion for game show fans at eBay.

And not only is "Baffle" not wiki-ed, neither is "Bible Baffle" or "PDQ" as a game show.

To make matters worse, there's also a Peter Marshall in the UK...ironically, however, he's also a GS host and helmed a late 80s revival of $otC over there.

It's too bad that Peter wasn't asked to host "Celebrity Squares" instead of Bob Monkhouse!

LOL...then they could've kept the "w/Peter Marshall" tag on the mid-70s Ideal game, a near-exact duplicate of which was released across the pond for their version, the only changes being in the title and the host pictured on the cover.
