Wanted to start a thread on this Pioneers of Television series that PBS is running of late. I believe this is the second season, and I think I'm late to the party, but it looks like there is a Game Shows episode of this series that is going to air soon (or already aired in the first season in 2008 and it will air again in reruns).

Caught the last half of the Late Night episode last night, which was really well done. Quite a bit of material about Carson that I didn't know or hadn't seen before, including some clips from Who Do You Trust? (I think this Late Night episode was also done in 2008.)

For those who have seen it, is the Game Shows episodes worth looking out for?

Worth watching for some interviews with Monty and the Narz boys. Just don't expect much from the rest of it. (In fact, prepare to cringe at some of the artistic licenses taken.)

Is this the one that photoshopped a picture of Dick Van Dyke in front of the TPIR price tag to supplement his comment that he'd been considered to host the original?

It's also a series that doesn't use any actual themes from the shows they are profiling either, no matter what the subject
is (last night it was Crime Dramas), just home-grown cringe-worthy generic music.

To its credit, it does have a nice salute to Bill Cullen as the best host ever.

By a happy coinsidence, I finally caught this episode this morning. It's was okay but not a keeper. It implied that The Hollywood Squares postdated WoF. It could have at least mentioned Concentration when referring to childhood games turned into game shows. Dramatizations and reenactments should have been credited properly.

The documentary you really want to see is the episode of PBS' The American Experience which deals with the quiz scandal. It is fascinating. I believe it is Dan Enright's first public statement about his role in rigging Twenty One. We also see Joe Cates and Mert Koplin discussing The $64,000 Question. Even Mr. Goodson talks about The $64,000 Question as it relates to Lou Cowan.
