with two alternates in case a model has a conflict...

It's an interesting read, just to see how much effort they put into that part of the show...

I'm still wondering if Howie Mandel has memorized all the models by name, or if he gets help from the control room. (Has this point been asked and answered already? If so, my apologies.)

Judging by his appearance on Ellen earlier this week, where she had a stack of DOND model pictures and he rifled off their names as fast as she could hold them up, yes he does know their names.

He may know them by heart now, but at the first batch of tapings, he was using a Teleprompter. He was using it at other times as well.

Enjoy lots and lots of backstage TPIR photos and other fun stuff here. And yes, I did park in Syd Vinnedge's parking spot at CBS

The models are chosen for their sparkling wit?

Wit?

They barely talk.

Is their off-camera wittiness really a factor?  Is there even more editing than I thought (do the cut out the models' jokes)?

Or was that just a typo? ;)

I'd like to hear a little more about this "thinking on their feet" that they do.
Now, let's have some truth time about the wardrobe selected for these witty quick-thinking ladies.
They don't wear gowns because it would make the $1,000,000 game seem too serious, the article claims. The skirts are to keep the mood light.
That's a spitload of bullcorn. The skirts are the length they are to draw in the hot-blooded males who view the telecast behind a locked door with unlatched trousers and a supply of baggies on stand-by.
Let's end another myth. Baywatch wasn't a hit because of the writing or the acting.
And now, I'm off to read the latest issue of Maxim. Great articles in there this month.

Simple, Don.  They're standing.  Anything they're doing, they're doing on their feet.
This has been another installment of Matt Ottinger's Masters of the Obvious.
Stay tuned for all the obsessive-compulsive fun of Words Have Meanings.

All I know is that this Pete Hammond guy has to be an incisive movie critic if they keep using his quotes in the movie ads.  :)

I keep thinking that the next line after the quote in the ads is always "and [insert relevant name of actress here] has a nice rack."
