That said, here's a follow-up to what Matt said: would Jeopardy! still have a win-until-you-keel-over-or-get-a-foot-tall-thumb-callous rule if the first person to win a whole bunch of games was an arrogant snob or a no personality Milquetoast?

One would think the contestant coordinators would weed that kind of person out, but if it did happen, I don't see why they wouldn't continue the practice.  One bad contestant shouldn't ruin it for all.

Now, I know this thread devolved into a feeding Zach thread, but I'm wondering why even feed Soria? It's a pretty well-known fact that he likes to find things to bitch about and go trying to stir the pot, when nothing was there to begin with. He's your textbook example who tries to act tough on the Internet, and get a rise out of others. Ignore him, and he might just go back to his relative obscurity. Although, I'd love to know why he even posts here, when he's made it pretty clear he's too good for this group...I mean, why post when we're nothing but "otaku".*

God as my witness, I didn't realize that "Brakus" is Jeremy.  My bad.  You guys would be doing old folks like me a favor if you'd just use your real names.

Jeremy's pretty much on record as deciding that we wouldn't be able to do a good job no matter what we did, so it's actually nice for me to realize that this is the same guy.   It's also gratifying to see that the person who thought back in 2002 that we "don't stand a chance" of improving on the Usenet group has actually been making some useful contributions here amidst the mod-bashing.

Are you thinking of Soria, or of Steve Sousa?  The only ATGSer I can find who said those specific words in that context was the latter, and unless I've missed something, he hasn't come here at all.  He wasn't banned; he just refused to join the new board out of an alleged concern for not being able to go off-topic -- which really meant that we wouldn't allow the trolling that he loved so much.
