Meanwhile, let's remember--"Greatest" lists are by their very nature subjective and capricious. This one is no exception--and for me any of these entries could be argued in favor of making the list save the GSN originals.

Please, offer the argument in favor of $1.98. I _really_ want to hear it.[/quote]
The best argument I could make is that it's part of Barris outrageousness at its near-pinnacle, only to be topped by "3AC." I could state that the entire Barris portfolio of 1978-79 could be given as an example, but that "$1.98," as the new show in that equation, could be the symbol. But I could also agree that it didn't really belong in the 50.
'3AC"'s claim to the 50, as I see it, is as the show that temporarily brought Barris down--although some stations were uncomfortable with "TDG" and "TNG," it was "3AC"'s crashing and burning that caused him to shut down completely in 1980--and even though he was back a year later with "Treasure Hunt," everything he did after that until he sold the company that got on the air was remakes of his most popular shows. (Neither "$1 Million Talent Show" nor "Comedy Court" got beyond pilot.) That one show could do what "3AC" did to him makes it notable, if admittedly not "Great."
