Well, what they should have done is letting us vote for our favorite 5 or 10 shows, then use a point system to determine the top 50.  But, of course, this is GSN which has done a lot of things that made no sense.

who was apparently suffering from health issues
I must remember this line the next time I fill out a sick form at work.
Describe illness: suffering from health issues
Sorry, I couldn't remember the exact nature of his illness (which I think was heart-related but wasn't sure) when I wrote that.  Charley Weaver was gone for awhile in 1972-73 due to his illness and I think, surgery.  I was just trying to make the point Charley wasn't just taking a week off.

Glad to help you with this information.
Charley Weaver suffered a stroke, which necessitated his extended absence from The Hollywood Squares.

Not necessarily. A more thorough check of the promo shows that GONG, DATING and TJW are expected to be among the list, and the press release mentions that a Marshall HSq, a Thom McKee TTD and a classic NEWLYWED will be shown as well. PASSWORD6x is also included in the promo (although the press release refers to P+ making the cut--they may include both or just include one).

I'm hoping for a few more gems.  For example, it would be great if they could pull out a summer 1974 episode of Joker's Wild when that comes up.  At least they treated us to a Treasure Hunt that they never aired before!

The longshot would be a Fleming ep. It's never been confirmed or denied they had the entire '79 run, but that is certainly ripe for the picking.

In speaking to a member of this forum at the Game Show Congress a couple of weeks ago who's seen the GSN vault, he's pretty sure the entire '78-79 run still exists.  Also, in a letter I got from David Schwartz in 1996, he seemed to indicate as much.

Well, after a stellar week 1, we hit bottom with a resounding thud this week.  Sure, we got Greed and Curtis Warren's big moment, but we also got Dog Eat Dog, and no Sale of the Century.  Here's hoping next week is at least a little better.

OVERALL GRADE FOR WEEK 2: C.

I'm right there with you Chris...but I gotta say, for as much as I've been calling the list worthless pretty much from the beginning, including Dog Eat Dog does sort of take them to new levels of inanity.

I'm now bitterly disappointed that What's Going On? isn't going to make the list.

At least it can be argued that it's a game show. This by itself makes it a worthier candidate than friggin' $1.98.

It could be much worse. Wait until Fear Factor hits.

As for the rest of y'all, hey, go nuts. I'll even join in at points, I'm sure. But when you have people saying "WHAT?!  WHAMMY? Are they HIGH?", the answer is "Yes. And you knew that when they aired Studs, so why are you surprised when it happens again?"

I'm actually with uncamark on this one.  It was a big, bawdy spectacle from the Chuck Barris stable.  If GSN wants to put it on a game show list (mostly, of course, because they have access to it) I'm willing to give them a pass.

So was Operation Entertainment. Where was that?

This is my (respectful) point: can you have it both ways? Can you give them a pass on something that just plain isn't a game show and then roll your eyes when a show like DED, which is indeed not even close to Top-50-worthy, but at least is in fact a game show, pops up? Seems to me that one kinda voids your right to complain about the other.

Except they didn't air "Studs."  They only mentioned it and then ran "Hollywood Showdown."

Even if Fox Reality's not running it, don't think Bob Boden would want to help his ex-boss out and greenlight a one-shot license from 20th.
