As a matter of fact, didn't only a few of McKee's run make the Game Show Network TTD marathon some 8+ years ago? (or it may have been longer)

I believe they aired 12 of his episodes during that marathon, so a lot would have been passed over.

Sadly, we end the night on a downer, as Scrabble only gets a passing mention at 29.
Did you really expect they would show it?  You knew that a) a maximum of two shows can be shown with the formatics of this special, and b) GSN isn't licensed to show SCRABBLE (if they couldn't show $otC--then sure as heck they weren't going to be showing SCRABBLE).

My surprise is that GONG apparently ranks ahead of TTD and CS (I had thought GONG was a prime candidate for last night's doings).  Not exactly the way I would've drawn it up, although I'm still guessing GONG's featured either tonight or tomorrow (either mentioned in passing or with an ep).

Also, is it me or were there some technical issues with the CS broadcast (seemed like any two-shot of the contestants at the podium resulted in sound glitches)?  I didn't remember seeing that the last time GSN ran the ep during the weekend run last year, although I could be wrong.

...for some strange reason, I never saw the episode before he lost, I always saw a few good ones here and there, and then the skip over to the last episode. As a matter of fact, didn't only a few of McKee's run make the Game Show Network TTD marathon some 8+ years ago? (or it may have been longer)
Well, I didn't have Game Show Network 8 years ago, so I can't comment about that, but the Feast of Favorites block of TTD featured McKee's last two episodes.
This signature is currently under construction.

After a night's sleep, a good breakfast, a load of laundry, trip to the post office, and a talk with my therapist, I have fully realized that I WAS COMPLETELY STUPID in saying that Scrabble was a copy of Wheel of Fortune.

To show you that I have learned that fact, this morning I watched a Daytime 1987 WOF and a 1984 ep of Scrabble on the Page o Clips site, and will now display the similarities and differences.

Similarities

Both involve putting letters in words to solve a puzzle

Both were hosted by Chuck Woolery

Differences

WOF: contestants were actually rewarded for delaying to solve a puzzle

Scrabble: no benefit to delay solving unless a colored squared was available

WOF: a fairly low tech affair, most technical it got was displaying categories and prize amounts

Scrabble: One of the more high tech game shows around with great SFX and computer graphics

WOF: call a letter get all of that letter

Scrabble: call a letter get only one of it

WOF: gave away loads of prizes

Scrabble: gave away loads some amounts of cash

WOF: writing needed for puzzles

Scrabble: writing needed for words and clever clues to go along

WOF: speed wasn't a factor to win

Scrabble: speed was a factor to win (Wheel took this concept for there Toss Up Puzzles)

WOF: a big wheel of luck determined how much you won in a round

Scrabble: only solving the words determined how much you won

WOF: contestants had to think a little

Scrabble: contestants had to think a lot

Add to the list if you want to.

P.S.  I think I found where I thought Wheel and Scrabble were the same.  On Ricci's website before he had to take down his videos, there was a promo for the premiere of 1984 Scrabble, didn't Chuck make mention of the Wheel?
My favorite Win Ben Stein's Money Category:

Not sure about that.  I do know Chuck referenced WoF a couple of times during his run on SCRABBLE.

Once, pulling an April Fool's joke (I want to say 1988 or 1989) he entered the stage on Charlie Tuna's intro and went through his opening spiel on WoF (complete with the SFX operator--guessing it was Geoff Cooper, but that's only a guess--folding in the WoF puzzle/category reveal cue).

Another time, Woolery gave the clue, "Vanna White will let you buy them for a price."  After the contestant correctly guessed "vowels"--he looked over to someone offstage (perhaps producer Gary Johnson) and asked, "Is it still $250?  It was $250 when I did 'Wheel'."

And, we're back on track with Tic Tac Dough at 32.  It's the next to last ep of the legendary Tom Mckee run.

31: You Bet Your Life.

30: Card Sharks.  And, it's the legendary Norma Brown $28,800 episode!

The two series shown have the two best 'clap-along' theme songs.

(TTD's is a little trickier)

Depends on who you talk to, I guess.  I always felt TTD's was easier instead of trickier.

I'm talking about clapping along with the rapid-fire beginning. Sure, the on-the-beat part once the main melody kicks in is easier.

Don't forget the last episode of Scrabble (I want to say the '93 version), where Chuck said something like "It'll find a new host and new life in syndication, look what happened to Wheel!"

Original version. "I kept telling them, 'Look, find somebody else to do it. It'll be a huge hit! Look what happened to 'Wheel'!"

There are three things I've learned never to discuss with people: Religion, politics, and the proper wrapping of microphone cables.
