The show has only been on the air for one season and already it's the 26th greatest game show of all time?

Of all the problems I have with GSN's list, I'm really OK with that.  It's impossible to judge the show's historical place this soon, but it's an enormous sensation and pop culture phenomenon, so it couldn't be ignored.  Sticking it in the middle (and not too far away from The $64,000 Question) seems about right.  I'm actually surprised GSN didn't rate it higher, but then again, they weren't going to show us one so it didn't really matter.
This has been another installment of Matt Ottinger's Masters of the Obvious.
Stay tuned for all the obsessive-compulsive fun of Words Have Meanings.

Okay, but is Win Ben Stein's Money really better than Card Sharks or Scrabble?

I enjoyed Win Ben Stein's Money slightly more than Scrabble, but definitely not more than Card Sharks.

I'm tired of the taste of my foot, lets see if I can get through this scot free.

The $64,000 Question: its in the right place, It was the first big money quiz and went out a few years later amid scandal.

WBSM: in the right spot, I'm not sure but was this the first intelligence game show on cable?

DOND: where it should be, one of the biggest sensation internationally.  Its game play is so simple and doesn't need brain power and probably have some of the best drama in game shows.

Over at ukgameshows.com, they ranked their DOND as the 3rd best game show in British TV History, but part of the their explanation is because of the list's timing.

Password Plus: shouldn't have been on the list because its password with a puzzle.  We got to see Rich.  No Comment.

I have a hard time figuring what other people think about me and others.  I was asking a question. Was WBSM the first original hard quiz on cable television.  I'll stop doing the rankings just go back to the TV Guide and you pretty much figure my opinion.

I try to make a feel of use here at the forum but the internet find thread has grown old.  So I tried commentary, unless you want me here just so you can laugh at my posts, I'll stop commenting.

I am really saner in person, I will let Dr. Nedeff confirm that sometime.

I apologize for the poor wording off the question.

I am going to clarify this one more time.   I have realized that you think that the post was stupid; however, I would like to know why it was stupid, so I can learn from it.  Seriously I have a hard time figuring out why.

First, some (hopefully) constructive criticism. rebelwrest, you have a tendency to make bold statements about things you do not know. If you don't know whether WBSM was the first "hard quiz" cable game show, you should phrase it as a question about which you are completely unsure, rather than try to sound like you know the answer already when you do not. There's no shame in not knowing the answer to a question. But come out and say it. (EDITED for my own clarity.)

Also, you seem to have some occasional . . . trouble with the English language. When you asked if WBSM was the first "intelligence game show", well, that phrase is kinda silly and vague. We have no way of knowing that you're asking about a "hard quiz" unless you say "hard quiz".

Third, the last thing you want to do in any situation where others are making fun of you (rightly or wrongly) is to start constantly saying "well, I hope I don't say something foolish this time!" You are handing the irony out on a platter when you do that. Being humble, yes. Maybe asking politely about what the problem is, or e-mailing a mod for some advice, yes. Setting yourself up for more falling, no.

And finally, how are you defining "hard quiz"? Does Make the Grade qualify? Wink's Trivial Pursuit?

Thank You

I will try to define it; although as my management professor pointed out, the more you know about a subject, the harder it is to define.

Hard Quiz- A quiz show for which at most of its questions are consider hard for the average intelligence of the show's intended demographic.

I did not have Nickelodeon when Make the Grade came on, so I don't know if the were considered hard for its audience.  Also, I was 9 when Trivial Pursuit went off the air, so I have no clue there.

Without sufficient information I cannot render a verdict in whether those game show qualify as a hard quiz according to my definition.

Password Plus is probably on the list for the same reason Whammy can be on the list (aside from the pessmist's reasoning)--it's a different game than Password.  A VERY different game than Password.  I just did a Top 50 for someone and I put Password and Password Plus (and Super Password) as two different shows.
