And, we're getting down to the good stuff.  #15 is an episode of the original Password with "The Odd Couple"'s Tony Randall.

And guess what it is for this Password episode, it's a color primetime episode from March 19, 1967 which has not seen since 1997.

Hey, it's the old Password, ranked higher that the newer Password.  With some classic Password hijinks, too.

I'd say the first half was a home run, and maybe even worth a Bed, Bath, and Beyond run.

And, more classic goodness as What's My Line drops in at #14.  It's a 70's-era episode.

Thing is, I'd LIKE to think they had a huge discussion over whether they should lump together Password and Password Plus, with much spirited debate and banging on the table and such, but I'm quite sure went more like this:

Bob: "Hey, Tom, should we lump Password and Password Plus together?"

Tom: "Naw."

Bob: "Okay. So...Chili's for lunch?"

Honestly, I have so little respect for this entire process that I'm beyond caring. They went On Notice with Studs, they became Dead To Me when it became conclusive that they think there are fifty better game shows (including Studs, Love Connection, and The $1.98 Beauty Show) than Now You See It, Three On A Match, or The Who, What, Or Where Game.

Considering the sheer amount of pessimism on this board, I can't believe that you'd be disappointed in how half-assed this series was, especially in the beginning.  (I'm thinking more thought was put into the top than the bottom, anyway.)  This project was fairly rushed, wasn't it?

Wow, this is a funny episode.

I personally would've rather that they used Fred Wostbrock's list of 60 all time faves from Ultimate TV Game Show Book as a reference.
He may not consider Card Sharks, Concentration, or Video Village to have been great enough to be on the list, but dammit we could've seen The Diamond Head Game, Hollywood Connection, and GSN could've struck a 1 episode deal for The Neighbors!

Game show guru with very interesting taste, he is. Mostly better than some of things GSN execs thought up, nonetheless.

Tonight made me happy, seeing a primetime Password and a 70's WML. I'm most thankful WML did indeed make the list, even though I would've ranked TTTT higher on a greatest games list myself, mostly due to its multiple successful runs, and more recent incarnations being seen on TV. Primetime Password, as always, was a hoot, and Tony Randall is always fun to watch.

All that aside, the following occurred to me. Password was seen at 15 tonight, but the original PYL has not been seen on that list yet, and even though I rank PYL higher on my personal GS favorites list than the original Password, on an all time greatest GS's list, taken in the influence they've had on American pop culture, TV, and future game shows (and how many spinoffs and ripoffs has Password had at this point!?), I'd think Password would've ranked MUCH higher on the list, as a big contender for a top 5 spot...

Then again, that's just my personal opinion, as always...

Honestly, I'm sorry, but unless GSN suddenly pulls TPiR rerun rights out of their ass, I just don't think this will be #1.  GSN would have to be suffering from - if nothing else - a lack of sense (if from nothing else the business standpoint) to make #2 MG/FF/WoF/J!/whatever, and then right before the fee plugs have their little "Ohbythewaynumber1isThePriceisRightOKThanksBye" spiel.

TPiR won't be #1 unless they've either reaquired the series (That'll be the day), or have acquired a one-off episode.  (Well, I suppose if Fremantle/CBS were anal enough, they could go around them and lease the Davidson eps from Paramount, but given the identification of TPiR with Barker, I'd imagine that would seem a bit of a letdown to some though)
