Like the set a lot, but thought there was a 'theater in the round' aspect? Or maybe I read an earlier post wrong. I see the halfmoon set up of seats in the audience...maybe that's what it meant.

Anyone know of rule changes? First to 300? $5/point? How much is the bonus worth? #1 answers require opposing team to remove clothing? O'Hurley comes out riding a goat (which, technically, isn't a rule change, unless the ASPCA is involved)?

How the set shoots on camera can be a whole 'nuther matter. On the off-chance Feud sticks it out a couple more years until an HD transition, I wonder if they'll stick it out with this set, or try out something else.

Feud would be one of the easiest shows in the WORLD to block to shoot HD, and in fact I think it would be even EASIER to block it for HD than it would for standard def. Think about it: all of the set elements are already wide. You'd just lower the game board just a hair because you don't have to pull out as wide to get the two-shot of both families. The most difficult shot would be the one of the gameboard with the bank above it, since that set piece is designed for standard-def, but that's really easily tweaked simply by redesigning the board to lower the Bank readout a little.

Speaking of cameras, I hope they have killed off those stupid "flying camera" shots.  This is a freaking game show, not a "Top Gun" training video!

I actually sorta like the new logo...since they're updating the set so much, why not the logo as well. The set looks great, perfect balance of retro and modern.

I don't have a problem with changing the logo, I just think the one they changed it TO is utterly dull, uninspired, and looks like it was whipped up in about fifteen seconds <ding!> in Photoshop.

Believe me, it won't affect my opinion of the show one bit. And really, if the logo is all I have to pick on, then they're doing an awfully good job with the stuff that actually matters.

As dull as the logo is...WOW. That looks amazing. (And this is coming from a man who like both of Karn's sets)

But strangely enough, the logo does fit, somehow.

Only because they make it fit by displaying the family names in the same boring font.

It could have always been worse...what if they used the Dancing with the Stars font? :-)

That would at least be more creative than Impact Bold.

Is there any chance the letters in FAMILY will be animated? That was my first thought when I saw it. I can't think of whose logo animates each letter individually, but I have seen it before. Maybe that will make it more palatable.

I like the throwback to the classic sets -- though with the families' names in brown semicircles instead of the ovals, it feels like they're playing the game underneath a bridge. But I like it better than the squares and trapezoids of past.

Also nice to see that they finally moved the cameras behind the audience to eliminate the need for all of the cameras and camera operators to quickly drop to the floor whenever they want a wide shot.

The jib is still there, so I wouldn't get my hopes up. In fact, now that they don't have all of the other cameras in the way... uh-oh.

I hope that in the next Winner-Take-All Tournament they do, they give away a car in addition to the jackpot. But knowing them, they'll probably offer a Suzuki like Whammy! did.

  • Just leave the set; that’d be terrific.

The same thing that's "wrong" with a LiveJournal. Which is to say, if it fills your needs, nothing.

And for that matter, why would they offer something like a car when there are five people on the team? A trip can be divided five ways. A cash jackpot can be divided five ways. A car...

/I just realized who I was explaining this to. Never mind.
