Here is a link to a message posted at Jeopardy's own forum.  It shows a small illustration of Alex at a new podium, and some comparison shots of the set, before and after the HD modifications to it:

I'm glad they got rid of those ugly angular contestant podiums.  The new ones are a huge improvement.

I really like the new set adjustments. Not that it does anything to the gameplay, but I was wondering when they would change from 30 monitors to a solitary screen. The new podiums look nice, but it looks like there's a lot of black. Hopefully they look okay on TV.

I'm gonna guess that's intentional. One of the great things about hidef, I'm finding, is that blacks look REALLY black, and I'd think a television show set is gonna wanna show that off for a little while, while that's still something special.

While I thought the current J! podiums were tacky, I like these... but I've only seen them from an angle, hopefully we'll get a more frontal shot soon. But they look like they harken back to the old podiums.

Here is a link to images of the newly-revised, you could say, Jeopardy! set. The most drastic of the changes is probably the contestant podiums. They're more rounded, and have a darker scheme to them. The game board's border has changed as well, as well as an apparent change to Alex's lectern, but you cannot see it that well from the pictures.

In my opinion, I think the new podiums are pretty cool. I'll miss the old ones, but who doesn't like a bit of change once in a while?

(Merged into already-existing thread, which was just a few down.  Please check more carefully in the future. -DZ)

What im puzzled about is, wont certain markets have different resolutions so what res will it be feeded in?

1080i down to 720p always sucks with de-interlacing so will be 1080p to cover both?

Man, Jeopardy could earn some of the money they lost to Ken if they just auction off Ken's podium, as I'm sure he'd pay a hefty sum for it.

Considering all of the publicity he brought to the show, and his willingness to be the dancing monkey in the UToC, they should damned well give it to him for free. WITH the plasma monitor in it.

Well, I remember a few years back when they auctioned the previous Jeopardy! set on Ebay. Brad Rutter bought one of those podiums for about $5,000, if I remember correctly.

Assuming they auction these podiums off as well, if you'd rather have a Jeopardy! podium in your den rather than a pool table, then the price may not be that much different.

During the intermission, before Final Jeopardy! tonight, there was a moment where Alex Trebek was talking about the upcoming tapings in New York City.  He was apparently standing in front of the new gameboard!

The logo and background to it were just like shown in the illustration I gave the link to earlier, and as described in the press release, the huge videowall is seam-free.   It will retain the simulated beveled-edge glass look in the money/clue rectangles, introduced during the 1996-97 season.  Curious to see, come next month, an actual game played on the new board.

I believe the article is wrong in calling these the first HD syndicated shows. Seinfeld went HD a few months ago, just very few (if any) stations picked it up.

Incorrect statement, in terms of Seinfeld NOT being taped in HD, unlike Wheel and Jep.

It was infact shot on film, which is easily transferred to HD.

I've taken a look at the new set, and the board still seems to have the "video-wall" look.

I read somewhere that the new board won't be a video wall anymore. Am I right?
