I don't think it's possible to say Price is not the guy, when he may end up being the guy.  If CBS issues a release saying "No, it's not him" and then it ends up being him, it just causes more undue upset.

No decisions yet, folks.  Happy Holidays!
[/quote]

There's nothing to stop them from saying "There's been no decision yet" if there hasn't.  Doesn't make anyone look foolish or cause anymore upset. If they've already decided strictly on a handshake, they could even get away with "No one's been signed yet."  I should know, we're going through that crap right now here in Alabama, looking for a new head football coach for the Crimson Tide.

My apologies. Long thread and I must not have caught that.
One would figure at this point the only statement CBS or FreeMantle could make is that no decision has been made. Which is pretty much restating the obvious. They'll never announce who it isn't, just who it is.

...And who knows when that's going to happen.

They already have said "no decision has been made."  How do you think this whole thing started?  There is no reason for them to reiterate what they've said from the beginning.  Don't look for weekly updates from CBS.  When they're ready to break the news, you'll hear the official word right from CBS.  Every paper and news outlet will cover it.  Speculative reports will continue, however!

What CBS isn't doing is calling Verne Gay and telling him that he's putting out either incorrect or premature info in an NY paper.  My gut feeling is that DP as host is a fait accompli.
Let's Make a Deal was the first show to air on Buzzr. 6/1/15 8PM.

There are some over-the-counter laxatives which can fix that problem, you know, cause you shouldn't have to suffer.  :-)

The attitude of big media vs. gossip columnists is such : They're pond scum, and we won't stoop to their level so they can requote us and attempt to sell more papers.

So who put the bug up Verne's ass about Dave? Probably Dave, Dave's New York agent, or Dave's New York publicist.

This isn't the first time Dave's been on Page 6 or in Newsday.... a few years ago, when Price was still at Fox5, he took a 3 week sickout to hold out for a new contract. He got one, and a year later, still jumped to CBS. The "No Dave" Drama was played in the papers almost every day in the gossip columns.

It's PT Barnum 101, folks.

So, in other words, Newsday has a somewhat apparent hard-on for all things Dave Price, or just likes stirring empty pots?

It's about six months or less, because that's when Season 36 would start taping (and Season 35 stops taping).  You'd have some very unhappy prospective audience members if there were a delay because a host isn't in place, because you know CBS and Fremantle needs more rope to hang themselves with.

Oh, and unless Robert DiPirro magically started working on The Price is Right, seven takes is a bad thing.

I doubt if it'll be that big of a deal. Even if CBS doesn't make an announcement, they'll probably gonna go to a revolving guest host format. They did it when Craig Kilborn left "The Late Late Show"*, they did it for Rod's replacement, and honestly, it wouldn't hurt here. Let the viewers see who could be taking over the show, and have them offer input. Bob made the announcement in what, October? Don't be in such a rush to fill his shoes, and wind up regretting the mistake.

*No, I'm not comparing Bob Barker to Craig Kilborn. Just making a statement.

I can't imagine them doing that.
Revolving hosts on a show nobody watches? Yeah.
Revolving announcers on a popular show where the host stays intact? Yeah.
Revolving hosts on a show that is the cornerstone of the daytime lineup?
I can't imagine it happening.
The Price gig is something a bit too important to trivialize it by letting a bunch of people do it for weeks. Besides, what if everyone who tuned in during the revolving announcer phase heard Paul Boland and was completely turned off of the show? That won't happen with announcers. That can happen with hosts.
