From Zap2it.com:

Would this assume that "Name That Tune" is a dead issue--or at least Donny as host of "NTT" is a dead issue at CBS?

I don't know.  At NATPE, supposedly Sandy Frank had stuff set up for NTT and something called Face the Music.

Sandy is known for his tenacity.
Let's Make a Deal was the first show to air on Buzzr. 6/1/15 8PM.

So then would it be safe to assume that, at the very least, a Face the Music revival is being considered?

I think he is there to sell format rights to other countries.

No. Unless I'm mistaken, Sandy brings Face the Music and a few others to the convention EVERY YEAR. It's a format he owns, and it's available for anyone, anywhere, anytime.

In the US, Sandy makes a living selling options to produce his formats. Phil Gurin bit a few years ago, with the option expiring after he was added to the list of folks who have realized FtM and NTT have limited viability these days. The problems include the costs for live music and royalties, and with the fact that music is too difficult to make relevant to a wide enough demographic. I did runthoughs of the format over a decade ago when Star Search's Sam Riddle was trying to overcome one of the obstacles by using 3 generations of family members as a team.

Being this was a decade ago, and considering it could've been in recent memory, did anyone mention a similarity to "Triple Threat"?

Stealing From Himself Dept.:  Sam Riddle announced and, more importantly, was a producer of "Triple Threat."

And IIRC, the seemingly-on-hold-or-looking-for-a-new-host CBS reincarnation of "NTT" was also being touted as having families as contestants.
