Stu's Show: Last minute change
« on: March 21, 2007, 05:08:06 PM »
Steve Beverly has a sore throat from calling too many basketball games, so he won't be able to be on Stu's Show tonight.  Stu is therefore trading one bald, Southern, game-show-loving educator for another.

WWTBAM winner Tom O'Brien and Jeopardy big-fat-loser Matt Ottinger will be Stu's last-minute replacements tonight.  I'm not sure specifically what we'll be talking about, but I think Stu wants to focus on the processes involved in being a contestant.  Still, he'll be taking your phone calls, so feel free to point the conversation in any [reasonable] direction you like.

Honestly, I'd love to hear from you.  Our board makes up a significant chunk of Stu's still-small audience, especially when it comes to game show topics, so I look forward to us monopolizing* the proceedings.

The show is today (Wednesday), LIVE at 4:00 PT (7:00 ET) for two hours.  The site is http://www.shokusradio.com/

*And not in that bad, Mike Reilly way either!

Fantastic show, Matt! Probably the fastest two hours I've ever spent listening to a radio show.

You, Tom and Stu gave some very incredible insights into "Jeopardy!" and "Millionaire?" and was really entertained. I'll definitely be listening again next time!

And I was seriously considering calling you and remarking how you helped me complete my old Jeopardy! board game, but I just got too nervous!

Anyway, good show! I'll tell my friends about it. :-)

Thanks.  It was something that any number of members here could have done just as well if not better, but Stu happened to have my phone number.  Lots of fun.

I'm actually surprised that fertilizer wasn't produced by tmq800, bitching about how he can't get a Jeopardy recap now.

Indeed..I have no idea if Steve calls High-School games or not..assuming he works in a place that is crazy for High School Basketball...This being tournament time all over the country..(Four division-state basketball finals here in Ohio this weekend)..Steve could be calling 2-3 games a day some days..that would take a toll on one's throat..

IIRC, he announces for the conference that his college (Union) is in, so I can imagine how that would take its toll, esp. any nail-biters that require a lot of yelling. Now whether he announces just the conference stuff, or the NCAA D3's as well, I don't know.

How the HELL is a sore throat a silly problem?
I suppose you can still learn stuff on TLC, though it would be more in the Goofus & Gallant sense, that is (don't do what these parents did)"- Travis Eberle, 2012

And you of all people are the last one who has any position to complain.
