surely the prices came from there as well.
Undoubtedly. However, for the sake of game balance, you would think that the designers chose their content such that a $999 price didn't occur every orther playing.

(Yes, I know better.)

I'd laugh if $899 showed up in between each playing with $999.

A second edition of Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader comes out in October on a variety of platforms. (PC, PS2, Wii, DS and XBox 360). The game is boasting over 6,000 (3,000 on DS) questions, a multi-player mode, and unlockable fifth graders.
Huh.  I would never have expected a version for the Wii, as a completely straight one-player quiz like this really doesn't gel with anything "special" the Wii has to offer.   Another game that falls under that description is Deal or No Deal, coming in November.  But man alive, if there's really 6,000 questions, that's a ton of content.

Also, while perusing around Amazon, there is an updated description for TPIR Wii: "Use your Wii-mote to Spin the Big Wheel, putt your way through Hole In One, drop a Plinko chip, or take a swing at Punch-A-Bunch."  I seriously hope this is true....

No additional info on TPIR DS.

When you're at the grocery game and you hear the beep, think of all the fun you could have at "Crazy Rachel's Checkout Counter!"

I have no idea what this means in the gaming world, but working in a public school, it conjures up all sorts of odd images.

Why people would care about having a different cast of characters to call upon, I have no idea.
If you didn’t create it, it isn’t your content.

Good response. I saw it, and tried to come up with something funny, but every time just made me sound like some sort of sexual deviant.

/Okay, 'more' of a sexual deviant.

Probably for the same reason XBox users care about their Gamerscore, because it's there.

And yes, I got similar mental imagery as Matt's.

Reminds me a little of the original What's My Line? home game.  They make a big fuss on the cover about there being "over 1500 challengers" even though the game only included 40 occupations to guess.  The idea was that there were a lot of "contestant" photos and each could be assigned any of the jobs.  The permutation of faces and jobs was what totaled up to more than 1500, even though the contestant picture was completely meaningless to the game play.

I just bought The $100,000 Pyramid DVD game at a thrift store. The instructions give the players one minute for the main game and two minutes for The Winners' Circle. Is the DVD game that slow or is the publisher assuming slow players. Or, maybe, it got a better deal on minute timers than on half-minute timers?

I bought it new in 2006. If I recall correctly (It's so bad, I've never actually played it in a group setting, just tested it out),  the DVD is pretty slow going from word-to-word or subject-to-subject. You'll be in so much shock because it's so horrible, you'll need that extra time.
The game setup is just plain awful anyway (can't always select the category in main game you want, can only pick from 1st three then 2nd three, etc). It had SO much potential, and this attempt is a bomb.
I hope it cost you less than a dollar.

Here's a link to the Sears Canada website, for a peek at the new tabletop electronic AYSTAFG game (looks cool!):

I'm sure it will become available at various U.S. based websites and stores soon.
