While at Toys R Us buying gifts for my cousins, I saw a tin box game of Are You Smarter than a 5th Grader? Disney edition for $25.

My only gripe about the iPhone WWTBAM game:

Couldn't something have been done to eliminate duplicates in each category menu?

It's a great game, and that's one of three minor gripes with it:

1. Those duplicate categories.
2. No "Question Start" sting, it jumps straight into the question music.
3. Double Dip doesn't keep the clocking going down after the first wrong guess.

Nice Touches:
1. Themes are all there - including each separate countdown theme per question.
2. Ticking is separate from theme.
3. Experts are helpful.
4. Meridith has different outfits for the welcoming video.

Several months back, there was a thread about a WiiWare game called TV Show King.  Less than 2 months ago, a disc-based version called TV Game King Party was released for $30.  Micro Center slashed the price in half, down to $15, which is $5 more than the WiiWare price tag.  From what I see, this is an in-store deal only.  Unfortunately, there are only 21 brick-and-mortar stores and at least one store is sold out; I picked up the last copy from the Cleveland/Mayfield Hts. location yesterday afternoon.

I saw the TV Show King Party game at GameStop/EBGames just last night for $14.99. There are a LOT of those stores around.

Is the retail game any better than the WiiWare one? 'Cuz from what I saw the WiiWare game blew goats and wasn't worth $5, much less $10 or $15.

$14.99 is not a universal price...not yet, at least.  Best Buy has it for $19.99, while Toys R Us is still at $29.99.

Comparing what I've played on TV Show King Party with what I've seen of TV Show King, there are some additional game modes (teams of 2, last one standing) and significantly more questions.  Outside of that, the game play and presentation appear to be one in the same.  I could easily get $15 worth of value out of it.  As always, your mileage may vary.

Also if you have any of the soon-to-be defunct KB Toy Stores in your area I spotted the 1 vs. 100 Tabletop Game and the TPiR 2nd Edition DVD game last night. My store was 40% off.  I think both original prices were $29.99.

And it's back at $29.99, for whatever reason.  Dangit.

Amazon's been bouncing prices all over the place this holiday season in the name of quickie promotional sales. You gotta pounce on these things. :)

I thought we were talking about the Deschanel sisters in another thread.
