I don't mean to get off on a rant here... Miller is unusual, but could be good (he's likely an interviewer/commentator; because of the way the show is formatted and time-sensitive, they'll probably have someone else read the questions..)

What the hell does "rant" mean?

ObGameShow: From the same show.

Here's the Wikipedia definition.... For Dennis Miller, it's sort of like his monologue (he was famous for them during his HBO series, he even had a couple of books based on them).

Topic? Another advantage I think he has is that he's always known for spouting out unusual references...so he'd be perfect with these quiz show champs I think...

It depends. There is the Dennis Miller who has a sharp wit, and then there is the Dennis Miller who tries WAY too hard to work a pop-culture simile into the discussion when it wasn't needed. (The latter was the one who worked Monday Night Football.)

If the right Dennis Miller shows up, it could be good. If the wrong Dennis Miller shows up and tries to compare Kevin Olmstead to convention full of Stephen Hawkings (see, even I got nothin' there)...it could get ugly.

Glad I included that ObGameShow ref. :-) I was quoting "Family Guy"...here's the clip.

And I agree with Chris, if he doesn't try too hard to go everyone's head, then this could work. This show needs "Weekend Update" Dennis, not MNF Dennis.

Good hire. Will he be commentating or reading the questions (there's a differerence if you've seen the UK Version)

Looking forward to seeing this next week.

Which is what I was wondering--on the UK version, Carol Vorderman and an "analyst" were the booth hosts, like sportscasters, while another gentleman was the quizmaster (and IIRC, a very good one).  Sort of like Lisa Guerrero was "host" last season on "World Series of Pop Culture" and Pat Kiernan was the quizmaster.

As long as I brought it up, are Guerrero and/or Kiernan coming back for this coming season of "World Series?"  Would prefer the latter if a choice.

Kiernan for sure is coming back. Not sure about Guerrero.

According to sources close to the show, Pat Kiernan will be the question reader.

So, I take it this is another "game show" that is covered as if it is a sporting event.  Why do they do that?
Let's Make a Deal was the first show to air on Buzzr. 6/1/15 8PM.

Because, as always, it gets people who are not necessarily interested in game shows, but are interested in sporting events, to watch.

In my opinion, when you try to please everybody you end up pleasing nobody.  We'll see, I guess.

Then I don't think you're going to like another tidbit I have -- they are considering a 'selection show' to tell people what the seeds are.

I'll only watch the selection show if ESPN is covering it.  Considering everything, it wouldn't surprise me.

You're right.  The genre has gone beyond what I enjoy.  Maybe they could dress up in sports apparel?
