Won its timeslot last nite, against "Big Brother" and "House".

The "America's Got Talent" lead-in helps.

Except...what market was it opposite Big Brother in? Out here in Seattle, BB runs from 8 to 9, and Singing Bee is at 9:30...

EDIT: Looking at the article, it looks like they got their BB and their NCIS mixed up. (I hate when that happens.)

And the promo on the credits last night says that a special one-hour "Girl Power" edition of "Bee" will air Monday night at 8 ET before the finale of "Age of Love."  (TVG Interactive this morning was still showing the penultimate episode of the "kittens v. cougars" dating show for that time slot--I assume that will change.)

And if the blonde singer in Ray Chew's band looks familiar, she was a contestant on "Rock Star:  INXS":

"Rock Star: INXS" was one of the last shows my wife and I enjoyed together before she became ill, and I do remember telling her in the hospital that it was J.D. Fortune who had taken over the Michael Hutchence role in the group.

There are about twelve singers in that group but I think I know who you mean.

For my part, I spotted one of the Tonight Show Band guys, trumpeter Lee Thornburg, doing a little moonlighting on "Singing Bee."
