Merv's memorial was held Friday night. The church service was followed by a celebration of his life held at the Beverly Hilton. In Army Archerd's report of the all-star eulogies was this:
"(Merv's) son Tony promises to continue the Merv Griffin legacy, and a videotape shown at the party illustrated a sample of the upcoming Merv Griffin Crossword Puzzles Show."
Just struck me as a strange time and place to show a pitch tape.
