Eubanks' response: "What sign?"
And with this, Eubanks' stock just raised about fifty points in my eyes.
So he's up to 51? :-)

The trouble with having Mimi on is if they put her in front of the new set or, heaven help us, the new turntable, she'll blend in.

The part of the article for me was Drew's "Punchboard's basically Plinko with slips of paper."
Actually, he didn't say "Punchboard."  He said "Punch a Bunch"...or really, he tried to, but it came out "Punch a Buck."  I got a kick out of that and "Barker's Bargain Bin." :-)

I wouldn't be too quick to lay the blame for "Bin" and "Buck" at Drew's feet. Those are the sorts of things that newspapers have been known to transcribe incorrectly. (It could be Drew, of course.)

Completely and thoroughly.

If there's anything I like more than pricking the conceit of people who have egos too large for their own good, I don't know what it is.

Some of us prefer to believe that there is a difference between the two, though we concede that the behavior of some fans tends to blur the distinction. :-)
I don't see a problem with having the two subsets of fans. I know how the games are played, and I know which ones have hacks that can be employed to increase the winning percentage. But I also realize that it's still just a game show, and should be treated as such.

/And I also think it's funny to have Mimi as a guest model, or something like that.

I wouldn't mind seeing celebrity visits within the showcases. If you don't have the time to do any of the creative  3+ minute showcases like in the old days, having surprise celebs wouldn't be such a bad idea.

I can't believe anyone who's been in studio 33 and seen the dressing room that's been used over the decades by Jack Benny, one or both of George Burns or Gracie Allen, Ed Sullivan, Red Skelton, Carol Burnett, Mary Tyler Moore, Dennis Miller and 1,001 game show emcees would think CBS would build an annex exclusively to house Bob Barker and his gigantic ego. C'mon, that's all rental space. When it's set up for Pictionary it's Alan Thicke's dressing room. When it's set up for Now You See It it's Jack Narz'/Chuck Henry's dressing room. I hate to burst anyone's bubble but it is not hallowed ground.

From now on, anyone who refers to 33 as "The Bob Barker Studio" and is not saying it in jest is a fanb0i.

And yet they're building one for Drew Carey, so if Bob had demanded one, does it seem likely they would have refused (other than on the grounds that they couldn't build one big enough for his ego)?

Well, the story made it clear that they're doing precisely that for Drew.  So since it's clear they're capable of doing it, and Drew at least gives the appearance of being less demanding than the other guy, it's just somewhat surprising that Bob Barker and his gigantic ego hadn't successfully lobbied for it earlier.
This has been another installment of Matt Ottinger's Masters of the Obvious.
Stay tuned for all the obsessive-compulsive fun of Words Have Meanings.

Setting aside the comments you made about the dressing room (which were reasonable), the fanb0i barb is stretching things a bit.  They call it the Bob Barker Studio.

Things get names.  It happens.  After all, if someone wants to know where you live, do you give them latitude and longitude coordinates?  No, you give them a city name or a street name.

A couple of miles from my house sits the Senator Lloyd J Bentsen parkway.  They also call it US 59.  Either works, and because I choose one name over the other doesn't make me a Bentsen fanb0i.

We already know Fields is a Barker sycophant. He doesn't even have to speak to prove that.

They call it the Bob Barker Studio because someone slapped a plaque on the outside of the place proclaiming it to be so. I would hazard to guess that anyone who actually works in that industry, in that area, calls it "Studio 33".

Cut Chris some slack.  He's just trying to head off any potential effort toward the Jillian Reynolds Studio. ;-)

And I always wonder if that rankled Carol Burnett (who started using 33 five years before Barker did).  It seems like in subsequent specials Burnett did in 33 since the plaque was hung that she's taken opportunities to make some jokes at Barker's expense (none of which I can remember specifically).
