Fun Fact To Make You Feel Old: Syndicated Jeopeardy has allowed champs to play until they lose longer than they've retired them after five days.

Well, I'm not sure about "not too shabby."  I consider myself to be pretty well connected to popular culture, especially television, and only seven of those names meant anything to me.  Compared to some of the A-list names Jeopardy used to get (and still does, occasionally) this isn't exactly a powerhouse lineup.

Pretty sure we have the same seven. And two of THOSE I only know because I'm a food geek.

/though it will be interesting to see if Sandra Lee is as shiatty of a WoF player as she is a cook

Then we don't have the same seven.  My position is that if you know that you recognize a name because of your specific niche interest, that person probably isn't as famous as you think.

I also checked and found out Robin Strasser wasn't who I thought she was, so I've only really got six.  And honestly, only three (Probst, Doogie and Montel) are even solidly B-list.  Still, for Wheel's demographic, I'm sure a lot of those food & daytime people are draws.

Number of people on that list I've heard of: 9

Number of people on that list I would have heard of if I hadn't met my wife and, therefore, never watched her favorite TV shows or channels: 4

Guess I know WoF's target demographic :)

Oh, I didn't say they were famous. Those are the only seven people on that list that I *can identify*. :)

I don't get Steve Schirripa.

Every GS he's on (or every SHOW, for that matter), he acts like he's REALLY a member of the Mafia.

That schtick gets old and obnoxious very, very fast.

I've only heard of about three or four of them myself, but I don't watch the cooking shows or makeover stuff.

At least they didn't book Mario Cantone.

Cantone can be a little obnoxious, but watch his appearances on Chappelle's Show, season one. He kinda redeems himself there. :-)

A little obnoxious?  He'd fit right in with the DoND contestant pool.

He was even obnoxious when he was a Guest Programmer on TCM.  Poor Robert Osborne....

I don't understand how hard it could be to play Hangman, but then I grew up watching the show. I would assume it's more a case of people being willing to look silly on Jeopardy! and not being willing to look silly on Wheel of Fortune, which might account for the different caliber of celebrity players.

/The preceding was completely conjecture, of course.

Yeah, I had to knock her off my list. I had her confused with Teresa Strasser, who appeared on Donnymid.

Which might be an interesting idea for a game show. You bring in a dozen and ask the contestants who they are. Or bring in nine, have them sit on scaffolding and call it Basic Cable Squares.
