Matt Ottinger doesn't sleep. He waits.

/////In 1981, Matt Ottinger was Jack Barry's next choice for another game show.
They had a prior connection.

/Matt's responsible for two main elements to The Joker's Wild
//First, he encouraged Jack Barry to host as well as produce.
///Allen Ludden had slapped him in public, and he had slapped Jim McKrell in public.
////He also decided to get rid of the celebrities.
/////The celebrities in the first Ludden pilot used him as an ashtray, and either Bob Crane or Jaye P. Morgan gave him the disease that cost him his hair.
//////Yeah, I know that McKrell, Crane, and Morgan were attached to The Honeymoon Game, but it's close enough.
///////I shouldn't be hearing a rapping dragon right now, should I?

Two more?  Okay.

Chain Reaction was originally the showcase of Matt Ottinger's Formula of Game Shows: HOFe + MnO -> FeO + MnOttsGonnaBeatU.  Only when the formula was found to cause a chain reaction of game show winnings shifting to Matt's pocket was when the format changed.

Matt Ottinger and Bill Cullen walked into a game show studio.  The studio collapsed as it couldn't contain the level of awesomeness of those two men.

/only if it were true
//good night everybody

Hans Yodelman is in such a hurry to fall off the cliff because he thinks Matt Ottinger's coming at him from behind.

/I can't stand internet cults of personality
//except for the ones about Matt Ottinger. Those are awesome.

(Within a month, we had our first VCR so I didn't have to do that anymore--shame I didn't save those initial tapes I made.)
I didn't feign illness, but we did get our first VCR for Christmas 1982.
You guys got started in taping early!  My family didn't get our first VCR until summer 1988 (shortly after Combs's Feud started on CBS).  I'm kicking myself when I think about all I missed out on recording/saving. If only I knew nearly 2 decades ago what I know now.

I was quoted in my local newspaper, about my game show obsession in '93, that "my life had new meaning when I learned to program the vcr!"

Ryan :)

//in the same article, I stated that I craved to be on Scrabble

What does that have to do with the subject at hand?  Way to derail the topic, mister.  ;-)

Drew Carey doesn't really need glasses. He just wears them so Matt Ottinger won't punch his lights out.

Matt Ottinger would have made a success out of "You're In The Picture."

It is an honor and a privilege to be one of his minions.

During runthroughs, the Blackout buttons were really Matt Ottinger's fists.
When you're at the grocery game and you hear the beep, think of all the fun you could have at "Crazy Rachel's Checkout Counter!"

Matt Ottinger could care less about picking up a third Whammy in Round One.
Matt Ottinger can put an X there instead of having to earn it himself.
Matt Ottinger bets whatever he wants on the Big Bet.
Matt Ottinger doesn't worry about leaving the "1" behind on the Big Numbers, because Matt Ottinger can roll a one with two dice. Whenever he wants.
Know what beats five of a kind? Matt Ottinger.
If Matt Ottinger needed six to tie and seven to win, he would break Bart Braverman in half to make it happen.

/god, this is geeky
//but fun

Coming soon as the writers' strike continues as a companion to Million Dollar Password....
It's the star-studded big-money Matt Game '08 starring Matt Ottinger as both the star and the stud.
