And to say it's not is even sillier. Each and every question used on Power of 10 could just as easily be used verbatim on Card Sharks.

I never liked Power of 10 to begin with. It's unfortunate when a game show gets pulled, but as Chris said, it's a totally unoriginal format. In my observation, the show only kept itself alive by seeing how out there its survey questions could get. Drew did a great job as host there but the show itself just wasn't good enough IMO.

futon's reporting now that DPIR will only go up against 1vs100 the first nite, which is Saget's scheduled season finale. The rest of the time they'll be up against Dennis miller's "Amne$ia", which premieres after said season finale and moves up an hour the next week in the fine tradition of NBC game shows.

Another factor here is producing TPIR is cheaper to produce than P10. It costs money to fly Drew to NYC (and back to LA), put him up in a hotel for a couple days, and we even haven't touched the extra cost for a crew and so on...

Adding a couple tape dates and finding prizes isn't that big of a deal, really.

Barring the enormous cash prizes of Po10, productionwise, I would wager TPIR is way more expensive to produce than Po10. Consider all of the people-handlers and organization of corralling 330 people around for hours, all the movement of intricate props, the arrangement and organization of all the merchandise, TPiR appears to be much more of a production than Po10.

btw, the cost of an LAX-JFK flight (even private) and hotel is pennies for CBS as they undoubtedly fly in and put hundreds of people up in hotel rooms in NYC over the course of the year for celebs, Early Show & Letterman guests -- they likely have something negotiated (note American Airlines' "CBS Eye on American", coincidentally) so that couldn't be much of a factor either

/Wouldn't Drew have his own Gulfstream by now?

Man, I hope not. He'd be so much more fun to have on a commercial flight--even if, since he'd be in First Class and I'd be in Steerage, I only knew he was there by hearing that high-pitched giggle.

Yup, they'll only go multipling x5 each time -- but still with a 1,000,000€ top prize .
