ABC Fall Schedule

ABC announced its fall schedule this morning...

http://a.abc.com/media/fallpreview/images/...edule_small.pdf

(Hope that works...a thousand apologies if it didn't)

There were a few surprises with the schedule (only 2 new shows in the fall, According to Jim and The Bachelor refusing to be taken to the woodshed to be shot).

One of the new shows on the Alphabet's schedule is something called "Opportunity Knocks."  No, it's not a remake of the Dana Carvey movie from many moons ago, but rather it's being described as a game show that, IMO, sounds like it belongs on basic cable, not a major network.

Explanation of the show is early in this piece...

The picking must have been pretty slim at the Alphabet if "Knocks" made the cut.

Interesting that there's only one half-hour show on the schedule.

If you lose, you get stuck with Ashton Kutcher for a month.

Still sounds more enjoyable than having to sit through NBC's newly-announced Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.

Currently...Scrubs and Jim would be the other two (I'd assume being aired in tandem like that to fill 1 hr).

Looks like, as usual, the only thing on ABC's fall schedule worth watching is football.

From Brian Setzler, who was at the upfronts today:

"But “Opportunity Knocks,” another project of Mr. Kutcher’s, did earn one of the two new time slots on ABC’s slate. Here’s how ABC describes the family trivia show:

“We will be showing up on America’s doorstep and testing how well they know their family. Our mobile team will arrive at ‘Anywhere, America’ in a semi-truck that is full of flat screen TVs, new furniture and big cash prizes that the family can win right there. We will take the action of a game show directly into our contestants’ homes, setting up shop in a family’s front lawn. The instant our host, JD Roth, knocks on the front door, the game will begin.”
----------------------------------
Also,
-----------------------------------------
"The audience seems to like “Opportunity Knocks,” a new game show that has Ashton Kutcher as its executive producer. The show brings a trivia game to players’ neighborhoods. A sample of the challenges: a mom has to identify her son’s first kiss; a brother has to find a sister’s diary; a father has to smash three clay pots but spare his daughter’s clay creation."
-------------

Boy, that opening Michigan State/Cal game seems enticing.

Okay, I though he was just kidding.  After re-reading the post, and noticing that someone of knowledge said this and it wasn't a joke, I also lost any interest.

/not much there to begin with

ATJ isn't too bad -- usually I see the syndicated reruns.  But I agree with the Bachelor and I'd like to add to the firing squad "Wife Swap" & "Super Nanny"

/I'd also like to add "Extreme Screaming,... er Makeover", but it's hard to kill a show with such a following...yet!

Hey, ABC, how about a revival of "Almost Anything Goes"?  Now that was a show...

well, it was if you were about twelve years old and really into geography...

The nerd line forms behind me.

Note to ABC: My request for revivals does not extend to "The Krypton Factor".

Thinking about it, this show sounds a lot like "My Kind of Town" that aired for (maybe?) two or three episodes about two summers ago. I think that show focused more on small town residents, but it still reminds me a bit of that.
