Michael Davies reviving "Dating", "Newlywed" Games

Embassy Row is reviving "The Dating Game" and "The Newlywed Game" for their umpteenth go-rounds. Search around Craigslist and you'll find the info to apply. I'm actually sort of excited because I can actually be on Newlywed Game for the first time in my life, though my wife doesn't think it's such a hot idea.

Davies is also looking for couples who survived the NG in the 70's and 80's to come back and try their luck again.

Question is do they bring back Eubanks?

My gut says no.
Enjoy lots and lots of backstage TPIR photos and other fun stuff here. And yes, I did park in Syd Vinnedge's parking spot at CBS

If these revivals of DG and NG occur, let's hope they stick with the classic formats, get better time slots in many markets, and get more promotion! The 96 revival didn't have all of these (the NBC affil that picked up both shows didn't even promote it during the Atlanta Olympics, instead running promos for a long-forgotten Maureen O'Boyle show, and the Gen X revamp for that version didn't go over so well that Sony went to the classic formats for the rest of the run).

That's a no-brainer. Lange don't come back, either. Chuck Woolery, maybe. But it's time to find some new, capable hosts.

/Paul Rodriguez need not apply

Keep it in the Invision family.
Dale Grass for The Newlywed Game. Matt Ottinger for The Dating Game. Randy West will announce.

Sounds interesting.  I'll probably watch it once or twice.  Never really was my kind of show though.

Yeah, but they also gave us World Series of Pop Culture, Power of 10*, and Grand Slam. Even Goodson had a couple of clunkers.

*Is this still being shopped for fall 09?

Gotta think of a 21st-century substitute for the word "whoopee".

Make up your own "in da butt" joke.

There won't be one. The new, edgy Newlywed Game will just ask "When was the last time you gave it to your wife up the pooper?"

I have a feeling that "whoopee" has entered American lexicon and is so synonymous with that show it'll just be used.

"Up the pooper", though....that's 21st century Newlywed Game right there.

I think this will air on Lifetime.  Andrea Wong, a top executive at Lifetime, used to work with Michael Davies while they were both at ABC, if I remember correctly.

Hmm...since this is the 21st century, will they also be doing men seeking men (or women seeking women) on DG?

I don't know why, but, for some strange reason, I usually enjoyed watching old DG's and hope they don't mess around with it too much.  No need to mess around with Newlywed, even though it would be nice to get Eubanks back (even when he was older, he still did better at it than the others they tried, IMO).

/Too bad Davies doesn't go outside NY; I'd try out for DG

Weren't there some episodes left when it went on hiatus? I know the show's not in CBS's fall plans but we can hope for a burnoff, can't we?
