Back in 1981, a few months before Woolery left Wheel (obligatory use of overused online game show fandom cliche!), there was an episode when Wheel of Fortune did run out of vowels.  Fortunately, Blockbusters was taping a few studios away.  Chuck and Susan went to the Blockbusters studio to snag some excess letters.  Those were some of the biggest vowel movements I've ever seen.

It's not just the price of a vowel that's going up, either.  Investment in alternative vowels such as "Y" is driving up the prices of consonants, too.

One question: who is Charlie Clark? I don't believe there's anyone working on the show by that name, and if anyone's going to speak for the production, it should be Harry Friedman.

I think you've all been hosed by a satirical post, which the Onion often does.

Perhaps a combination of announcers Charlie O'Donnell and Jack Clark?

Has Sen. Arlen Specter's office been contacted about this?  They may want to review Wheel's antitrust exemption on the vowels.

Also, I've heard that W is a new promising alternative.  Double the fun!

I can see it now, Wheel's ratings will go in the toilet.

I wonder if W is a vowel in the Welsh WoF. (e.g., cwm.)
