It just really depends on the situation I guess- there was an Australian DOND ep a year or so back where the contestant knocked off the top four amounts in order (top amount, 2nd highest, etc), in his first four picks of the game- I don't think they'd stop a game like that because an incident like that would be great TV (I'd love to see Howie's reaction and what the banker's offer would be at the end of that round)...

/"The offer is 1 million dollars-Zimbabwean Dollars"

//An article on BBC news said a recent lotto jackpot in Zimbabwe was 1.2 QUADRILLION dollars..

///which is about $4000 US and dropping....

Holy. Freaking. Cow.

In a country that corrupt, it surprises me not at all that their monetary system facilitates easy scamming of people by Omission Of Zero.

While on the subject of bad currency (and on topic!), I once watched a clip of "Millionaire" from Turkey a few years ago where someone won 125 *BILLION* Turkish Lira.

IIRC, that was around $75,000 US back then.

I actually always thought that they'd do a DOND ep around April 1st that guaranteed the contestant would have a million in his case- only to find out it's a Banker's April Fool's Joke, because it's a million of one of 26 different currencies....which can be good and bad..

1 million Ghanaian Cedi= US $102.50

1 million Japanese Yen= US $9297

1 million Macau Patacas= US $125,800

1 million Cayman Islands Dollars= US $1,225,000

etc. (and there was actually a GS in Europe called 1 million What? that was based on this idea..)

And of course, there's also One million Zimbabwean dollars, which is now too small to calculate without going into negative exponents -- I bet the banker would love offering that as a prize. (As of current, US$1 = Z$425,276,250,000 -- at a point that a dollar is not even worth the electrons in an atom used in the paper its printed on. Never mind that Z$$100,000,000 is now the lowest denomination.)

I'm going to try to backread this thread, but what is up with TP?

1. They haven't figured out their host yet? According to Buzzerblog, that is the case. Obviously they haven't taped any without a freaking host.

2. Is there any official site for the show yet at all? The only site I see is for the board game version.

Agh, they are gonna have to tape like crazy to make it for fall premiere. What's the green light date for this anyhow?

How brilliant.  S&P doesn't have any issue with something like this?[/quote]
Why would they? S&P's job is to make sure the game is played fairly. Since there's no opponent that would get screwed from this, calling the game off and saying "okay, we'll just give you the most you can possibly win at this point" is not only fair, it's advantageous in the player's favor.

Really, it makes sense. I'm sure somewhere a DoND beancounter figured out that giving someone $500 (or whatever; I'm sure they figured out exactly where the line is) and stopping the game is cheaper that whatever the production costs would be (and in this case "production costs" are more than just studio time, or, indeed, money) to continue playing out a stinker.

Good for the couple, showing how bad their gameplay sucked might be something they don't want aired. But maybe we viewers got cheated out of a laugh on this one?

They did pull at least one network DOND out for some reason, didn't it air online only?

It's hard to fault someone for "gameplay" if they simply were unlucky with their case selection.  And as for not wanting it aired, it seems to me that for those contestants, all they would have to gain from their experience is the chance to be seen on television, and now even that's been taken away from them.  Seems like a bit of a gyp.

Understand that if a game comes down to the final few cases, there's still a big amount, and a player gambles and misses, that's still going to air.  All we're talking about are games that were pretty much hopeless from the start.  And honestly, I can certainly see why the producers wouldn't want those to air.
This has been another installment of Matt Ottinger's Masters of the Obvious.
Stay tuned for all the obsessive-compulsive fun of Words Have Meanings.

Unfortunately, my DirecTV does not carry this channel. =\
