Twentieth Television and Mark Burnett Productions are expected to announce that Fox’s popular primetime game show, Are You Smarter than a Fifth Grader, will be available to TV stations for fall 2009, sources said.

Twentieth Television wouldn’t confirm, but a spokesman said, “We’re always happy to bring great programming to syndication.” Sources close to the situation said primetime host Jeff Foxworthy is expected to sign on as host of the syndicated version

I highly doubt the syndicated "5th Grader" will offer $1 million like the FOX version. I expect the top prize to be $250K.

Look at who you are talking to.

Now ask yourself why you are bothering.

You're wrong.

See, I can be an obnoxious know-it-all without offering justification too.

Also in the article, about new 2009 syndie offerings, I am not surprised that Dr. Oz from Oprah is getting his own show, too.

Wasn't/Isn't Power of 10 also being sniffed at for an '09 syndie run, too?
When you're at the grocery game and you hear the beep, think of all the fun you could have at "Crazy Rachel's Checkout Counter!"

That was the rumor I heard, but it was also when the primetime version still aired.

/Perhaps daytime Password?

If it is Foxworthy, I'll be curious if he tries to get Burnett and 20th to move the show to Atlanta, his home town.  "Blue Collar TV" shot in Atlanta and I would think that if he is jumping from approximately 30 shows a year to 200 shows a year, he might not want the frequent commuting between LA and Atlanta.  The producers might also be tempted by a different (and perhaps denser) contestant pool than in LA.

Well, they recently shot a set of celebrity episodes, one of which was with Larry the Cable Guy .... so we might have a foreshadowing there.

This might be a good time to roll out my creation "R U Dumber than a Red Brick?"  The premise is that the multiple choice answers are on the stage floor.  You give your answer and then a foam brick is dropped from the ceiling and....

That's not nice. I'm sure there are plenty of intelligent people in Atlanta. ;)

The comment was mainly rhetorical, because most of us damn well know he'll never respond to anyone, unless he wants to criticize them.

I don't think he was making that implication. I think he was suggesting that because another comedian who works primarily out of the South made an appearance, that it was because it was conducive for him to do so.

Right. So why bother?
