New TPiR Instant Lottery Ticket...

As seen last night on Colorado TV:

The Colorado Lottery has just kicked off a brand new $5 TPIR scratch off ticket.

The new :30 lottery TV ad features Rich "A New CAAAAHHH" Fields touting the game in both voice & image, where all non-winning tickets can be entered in for a chance to attend one of 2 special "lottery winners only" TPIR Live shows in Las Vegas, including 4 nights in Vegas, airfare and $5,000 in cash.

Top winning prize on the Colorado Instant game is $100,000

According to the CO Lottery website, there will be a chance (albeit small) for someone to walk out of the special Vegas show with $1,000,000.  

And of course, the chance to meet fellow Invisioner Randy West!!

Any other states going in on this venture yet???

West Virginia now has their own $10 TPIR ticket.  However, to get an entry to see the show in Vegas is different.   Part of the ticket is the big wheel.  You scratch off the wheel and whatever the pointer lands on is what you win.  You could get anything from $0 to an ENTRY mark (which you send in for the chance for the Vegas trip) to $100,000 (and I was so close the last time).

Only for you, me and the kind of people who know who Suzie Ormann is. Over the years I worked for the California lottery's TV show I saw hundreds of janitorial workers and folks on disability who had invested the only bucks in their pockets for a chance to change their lives. I don't remember a single doctor, lawyer or stock broker, but that's likely to change! Hope to see an Invisioner spin the big TPiR-Live wheel for a cool million!

No different then throwing $10 down on a spin of the roulette wheel, IMO, which many, many people do.

I suggest it's a LOT different. The ROI of a roulette bet, even stick-it-all-on-00, is a LOT higher than a lottery ticket. On a $10 bet, the odds of a $360 payout, the longest shot on the table, is, what, 37-to-1. You're not getting CLOSE to that with the lottery. (According to this, the odds of a $400 hit are 1 in 9,512.)

Personally I think they're both wastes of money, but one's way more of a sucker bet than the other.

The house edge on a single zero roulette wheel is 2.7%.  On an American roulette wheel, its nearly double at 5.28%.  So, despite your claim to the contrary, it does make a difference.

I could be wrong in this case, as I've only seen Indiana, Ohio, and Michigan lottery tickets, but generally the odds I see of winning any prize on most tickets (as printed on the back of the ticket) are 1:3.5 - 1:5, which doesn't make a large bet seem quite so ludicrous.

EDIT: It's been presented to me that the odds on this ticket are 1:2.83
