Upcoming Pyramid celebs

Specifically, one of the puppets in the cast of "Avenue Q" a New York stage production that's a hilarious, adult spoof of Sesame Street.  I've been enjoying the soundtrack album.  Your friend Stephanie has quite a good singing voice, and I'd put "There's A Fine Fine Line" up against any love song on Broadway right now.  

But no, I have a hard time picturing someone playing Pyramid witha puppet on her hand.  That would work with a lot of other shows, but it's just one huge extra thing to think about when you ought to be able to concentrate on the game.  They didn't make Nancy Cartwright play the game doing her Bart Simpson voice the whole time, for example.

 Around that same time on two other Saturday afternoons, ABC aired the Animal Crack-Ups pilot as well as a pilot for a psychic-based show with Peter Tomarken as host(as per TV Guide at the time).

And Nancy has also said that except for an occasional "Aye Caramba!" or "Don't have a cow, man!", she won't do Bart Simpson at the drop of the hat--she says that she respects "The Simpsons"' writers too much to ad lib lines for Bart.

Besides, Bart would be more interested in playing jokes on the contestants than playing "Pyramid" straight.

Wow, Stephanie D'Abruzzo and Kate Monster! I saw "Avenue Q" on Broadway in August and I loved the show. It'll be interesting to see how she can inhabit the puppet outside of the script of the show, but I saw her on the view with John Tartaglia and I was impressed.

I bought the CD, too, and yes, "A Fine Fine Line" is amazing. It's my second favorite behind "I Wish I Could Go Back to College".

I can't wait to see them on Pyramid and I can't wait to go back and see the show again!

(Ob Game Show: What other puppets or Muppets have done game shows? I suppose many have done the Squares, but what about other shows? I know Kermit, for example, played TTTT)

 Kukla, Fran, and Ollie appeared on an episode of MGPM.

And I mean that they actually appeared.  I'm not talking about the Super Match here.  :-)

And let's not forget some ventriloquists who appeared with their 'dummies,' on some celeb game shows; most notable were Paul Winchell, Willie Tyler, Wayland Flowers, and Ronn Lucas.

I'd STILL like to see other GS hosts as Pyramid 2004 guests, though!

 A group of Muppets (many from the Muppets Tonight series) played a week of Family Feud with Louie Anderson a few years back.  Kermit appeared, but did not play, in one of the first Millionaire celebrity editions (word was that they wanted to have him play, but couldn't figure out a way to do it logistically).  Henson (with Kermit) and Carroll Spinney (as Big Bird) have been Mystery Guests on WML?  Spinney was also a central subject on 70s TTTT.

Specific non-human Squares have included Kermit, Big Bird, Oscar, Bear (of the Big Blue House) Triumph the Dog, Alf, Wayland Flowers' Madame (as well as Jiffy, Macklehoney and Smedley), Howdy Doody, Jay Johnson's Bob, various Krofft Puppets, Willy Tyler's Lester, Jerry Mahoney and likely some others (especially from the current version) that I'm not remembering.

The Great Gonzo has done the Squares recently, and I bet Fozzie did, too.

And going back to the older shows, Edgar Bergen appeared with Mortimer and Charlie on a few programs back in the '50s.

 Don't remember Fozzie doing the show, but I'm surprised I left Miss Piggy off the list.  She was on a Blondes week of the current Squares a couple years ago.

And Bergen, Charlie and Mortimer originaly hosted "Do You Trust Your Wife?", the show that became a hit in daytime with the title "Who Do You Trust?", a host named Johnny Carson and an announcer named Ed McMahon.

He's also done the current run of H2. He was a little annoying there, always cheering "Yayy, ___!" whenever a celebrity was called on.

And he got so out of hand on a Feb. 99 appearance that Tom actually ran from his podium down to the grid and sprayed Richard w/some "Disco Sweat"...a classic moment!

Also, Jeff Dunham appeared on the 2nd season of TTTT 2K (an example of why ventriloquists should NEVER be used as guests on serious panel shows), and more recently, on a coupla eps of Funny Money.
